DARK SUN: Cannibal Halflings & The Blood Red Sun
Welcome back to Acceptable Losses. Today, we are venturing into the most brutal, unforgiving, and controversial campaign setting in D&D history: Dark Sun. Set on the tormented, sun-scorched world of Athas, this setting is what happens when pulpy Sword & Sorcery collides with the grim entropy of the Dying Earth genre. We're talking about a desolate wasteland completely devastated by uncontrolled magic, where gods are unable to see the world, and the very sands want to kill you.

Who else is back here after Dark Sun was announced for 5.5?
You eat six tons of beef, what do you get? A bad tummy ache and lots of regret.
I love dark sun, specifically the first box set. Its the perfect start to a new world. Sadly alot of the later stuff, especially the merging of other dnd lore was pretty lame. Just let it be its own thing
I need a sword and sorcerery media that has an AK wielding barbarian
Dying Earth probably needs to be you gang's default setting? I mean, if the entire world is dying, what losses are unacceptable?
I can understand why it would be so controversial, if it was a book series or a wargame, it still be controversial but perhaps it can be overlooked as something like flavour text or just something you read. But as a Tabletop ROLE PLAYING Game, where you would be playing characters in the world. With those topics and the kind of table environment back then... oof... I can understand how it was shelved.
Treasure Planet got mentioned that movie was one of my favorites growing up
Enjoy this setting very much currently playing a halfling psionicist
Wonderful yet another episode with no real world parallels or warnings
Thank you! Never need to apologise for late episodes! Your awesome. Also HYPERION! Also shadow of the turturer is great, highly rate it, only necrophiliac protagonist I liked 🫡
I have an old art book from Brom who is one of the big artists of this setting and the book was one of the things that got me into drawing as a kid. Excited to learn about the lore behind the art
Thank you very much!!!!! I feel like this setting gets forgotten about a lot.
Sweet!! Thanks to all 🎉🎉
