War Without End: The Complete Gears of War Timeline ft. The Remembrancer
Is the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) the saviour of humanity, or its jailer? In this episode of Acceptable Losses, we are joined by lore archivist The Remembrancer to tear into the blood-soaked history of Gears of War. We aren't just talking about chainsaw bayonets; we're diving deep into a timeline defined by desperate fascism, unethical experimentation, and the total collapse of a civilization, from the "Silver Era" of peace to the discovery of Imulsion, the miracle fuel that sparked the 79-year Pendulum Wars. We analyse the grim origins of the Locust Horde within the walls of the New Hope Research Facility and the rise of Queen Myrrah.

Ice T is also in the game
Never played gears of war but imma aboutta go grab gamepass reallyquick for that one
My favorite line in the series: Poor Baird after they cut out of the rift worm, "I'm coughing up blood, that ain't mine!". Such a perfectly simple but viscerally disgusting line
On one hand: A interesting look at how authoritarian goverments rise, are enabled and are unable to function due to their rigidity. Other hand: The Retro Lancer gives me a visceral, near primal satisfsction to bum rush into some bugs.
Couch co-op with friends when Gears first came out is such a core memory that I can clearly hear Marcus shouting "Troika!" as the locust open fire and everyone dives for cover; I had legitimately forgotten how absolutely harrowing the scene of Dom finding Maria was, though. Thanks for that. I do like Sci-Fi after all.
This was a great episode, I played gears 1 when it first came out as a 15/16 year old, then 2 and 3. Yet I never understood the story as well as this breakdown told it! Fantastic breakdown and retelling!
A series near and dear to my heart have a lot of memories of playing that split screen with buddies. Gnasher Shotgun my beloved!!!
