5/6 LIs Introduction

Thanks to everyone who has supported me this far. It means the world to see that the little I can share of my story without spoilering much resonates with you. Today, I will introduce three more of the six Love Interests (LIs) for The Darkness Within.

Lena: The Compassionate Warrior

Grew into solitude. But her empathy lead her to the Realm of Darkness.

Born as an unwanted child, Lena grew up in an area prone to gangs and drugs, where her family was very rough to her. As she hit puberty, she became the "hot girl" everyone wanted to tame, which led to her losing any real friends and being constantly harassed. After finding her mother in an overdose, she was offered a fresh start in Freistadt by a kind woman named Vera. Lena's strong perseverance and ability to deeply sense and connect with other people's emotions and desires led her to become the manager of one of Freistadt's finest restaurants. That same extreme sensitivity is what connects her deeply to the Realm of Darkness and leads her to the Academy, where she is destined to become one of the strongest.

Aria: The Outcast

Hated from birth, she finds sanctuary in the Realm of Darkness.

Aria was born from her father's affair and given to his family because her birth mother never wanted a child. Because of this, her stepmother hated her from birth, making her life miserable, and her older sister resented her for always having what she didn't. Isolated at school, Aria's life changed forever when a loving teacher, Beatrice, recognized her pain and took care of her like a mother. Beatrice eventually died, leaving Aria a key to an old apartment in Freistadt to start a new life. When her peace breaks after her sister finds her, a moment of panic leads Aria to the Academy, entering the Realm of Darkness.

Anna: The Nobel Rebel

A princess in a gilded cage. Her lost connection to a friend opens the door to another world.

Anna belongs to an old, noble family, full of traditions and costumes she always hated. Her only real friend was her dog, Rulfo, with whom she spent most of her time playing in the forest. Her life shattered when her aunt Giovanna got rid of Rulfo. After being told she had to marry into an even nobler family (the Malvoglio family), Anna decided her current life would only lead to her destruction and left for Freistadt. She now spends her time reading in a library, but a chance encounter at an art gallery sparks a memory of daydreaming about Rulfo. Her deep emotional connection to her lost friend Rulfo is what makes her connection to the Realm of Darkness possible.
