Final Notice: The Sims 4 Lovestruck is coming for your Mod folder!
TLDR: July 23rd game pre-patch for the new expansion might break a lot of mods! Here’s what you must know!
Oh no, is it that time again? Expansion time! The Sims 4 Lovestruck is coming on July 25th and bringing with it a ton of Woohoo and Romance related content. Including a new dating app with an interesting UI, romance ‘consultants’ (hmmm), changes to the base game attraction system, and a new world. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about the expansion and I’m not sure which elements will be usable with the base game. Regardless, we don’t choose love, love chooses us and maxis has decided that your mods folder needs lots of their special ‘love.’ You can read more about the new expansion here: https://www.ea.com/en/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/store/addons/the-sims-4-lovestruck-expansion-pack or really anywhere on the internet.
For those who are new to this, a new expansion typically means a pre-patch will come the Tuesday or Thursday before. Which is tomorrow, July 23rd. It’s the pre-patch, not the expansion, which breaks mods by applying core changes to the game needed to support the new pack.
But, don’t worry, your favorite modders are all working to pick apart the many changes the pre-patch and later the expansion will bring to the game. While it can be difficult to predict how long your favorite mods will be out of commission, it typically takes us (TURBO, Basemental, and me) few hours to about 2 days to release a patch depending on how many fundamental systems are altered! I’ll be in discord while patching tomorrow for those who want a more up to the moment prediction for how the patch is going, but for those who don’t use discord, I’ll be silently updating this post here as the process progresses, to keep you informed with how the patch is coming.
If you plan to play your modded sims 4 while we are working on the patch, then I highly recommend you disable updates. You can do this by opening the EA app, looking for the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left corner -> Settings -> hit the download tab just below settings (It’s not immediately obvious it’s a tab) then click off update games automatically, I’d probably disable ‘Enable Background Downloads’ just to be safe too. Then hit the 3 horizontal bars again and hit ‘go offline.’ This should prevent the sims 4 from auto-updating while your Mod Authors work on patches for you. If you want to be extra tinfoil, so shiny and chrome, you can disconnect your computer from the internet too, but that’s probably a bit cray cray.

I have downloaded the most recent patch but when I click onto the dancers turned prosty it will not give me the perversions option.

Hey Crystal, Are you receiving any Last Exceptions. Make sure you have testing cheats on. Then you are playing as the owner of the strip club. Finally, you can shift click on a dancer (they have to be a dancer already, so hire them first if they aren't) and then go to WP Extras and fine the make dancer prostitute interaction!

I used to be able to give teens drenched amy, but not anymore. They can take other things like just plain amy, but not drenched amy. Other adult sims can take drenched amy just fine.

The only thing still noticeably broken for me is the strip club, but that isn't Nisa, that's WickedWhims. All my strippers come to work but the customers just stand around outside and I get no money from any dancing or bed activities they do. Hopefully that gets fixed soon so I can use the strip club again.

You and Basemental were so speedy on this one, thank you! No issues I can see related to WP at all. Just curious, when you were fixing stuff up did you happen to notice what the specific issue is with CAS mods and the patch? I assume it has something to do with the "apply all" feature but I've never really seen the backend of TS4 so I'm just guessing. I've got rid of every CAS-affecting mod I can think of and am still unable to enter CAS... just trying to scrounge up clues as to what could be breaking it!

You are doing the best you can. I code/mod on several games and it's not easy at all, it's a more complex thing with every update with a game especially when you're not sure what the update will contain and what it does to your software and coding. You are doing an AMAZING job especially with irl stuff in the mix. Keep up the hard work and don't let anyone make you feel bad for having to wait. It's worth the wait once it's fixed and better and to have a working mod then a half ass broken mod because people were super impatient. Hang in there and continue to do amazing work because every little bit you do and effort you put into your work is super awesome! :)

It's aggravating how every expansion pack, or just every time EA dinks around with something.... stuff breaks. I can't imagine how annoying this is for mod authors. Thank you for keeping up the maintenance for this mod, Nisa. This is one of the mods I can't live without.

It's really frustrating. A few years ago, modders used to get access to update a couple of days early so we could be pretty much ready to go on pre-patch day. Now, however, they only give early releases to streamers for the purpose of advertising the new expansion. But what can we do about it, patching in progress!

Set Steam to offline mode -> Find out the App ID of The Sims 4 -> Go into your steam folder and find under /steam/steamapps/ the particular app manifest with the App ID -> use Notepad++ to edit the file -> set stateflag value to 4 (updated) -> now your steam thinks sims is updated. DONT USE REPAIR FUNCTION!
