The Meaning Behind the Kanji: The kanji for her surname, Kuroshima, means "Black Island."

Typically in anime, the name Ruri is written as 瑠璃, meaning lapis lazuli or blue gemstone. However, I deliberately chose to write it as 留理, which translates to "the truth that is kept" or "the sealed truth."

When combining her first and last name, the hidden meaning becomes: "The truth concealed on the black island."

Since this kanji wordplay won't be explicitly explained inside the game, I wanted to share this behind-the-scenes detail here in the character introduction for the page and Patreon.
