TAE Weekly News #1
TAE 0.06.3 / DLC Exclusive Content / Dev. Update: TAE 0.07 / Game Story
🛠️ Minor Update TAE 0.06.3
I am rolling out testing for a PC DLC system. For this minor update, you won't need to redownload the entire game. Simply overwrite the existing files with the new .rpa file to update your game. I am beta-testing this method starting with patch 0.06.3. (Mobile users may need to stick to the traditional update method for now).
Version 0.06.3 fix some screen Improve Scene Playing mode in Lust Link Fix Laging add Dissolve when change position and includes missing translations from version 0.06.22 and tests the integration of Exclusive Content without requiring a full game download.
đź’Ž Exclusive Content
Testing DLC Content in Lust Link Mode:
The Watcher & The Visionary: I am testing this by adding last month's Exclusive Video into the Lust Link function (under Scene Config). This can be unlocked for free, but requires a VIP login.
New Tiers (Asmodeus & Katsuragi): Building upon this month's Exclusive Content, the female character has been swapped to Dereus (Asmodereus) in her Neko-Maid version.
Costume Updates:
Asmodeus Tier: Receives the Dereus Neko-Maid Costume in 4 different poses (Both Normal & NSFW variations).
Katsuragi Tier: Receives the Kana-Kimono1 Costume (using the same poses as the Asmodeus Tier, both Normal & NSFW).
A Note on Lust Link Exclusive Content: Since the wait times between major game updates can be quite long, I wanted to find a way to reward my backers who keep this project alive. I'm not a great 3D renderer and I didn't want to just hand out wallpapers, so I came up with these mini DLC-style content drops. The file sizes are small, and I plan to continuously improve the Lust Link feature to give you more things to do while waiting for future TAE releases.
⚙️ Development Update: TAE 0.07
I've started building the core foundation (the backbone) of the game's code.
My development process remains the same: I play the game as I create it. I kicked off 0.07 by unlocking the Waking Up system and adding a Morning Report feature hosted by Dereus Chan. In the future, she will give you a daily breakdown of your gains and losses (similar to the vibe of Harvest Moon).
You can also turn on the TV to watch the morning news with your familiar hosts, Misaki and Mai. I've upgraded the TV system so it can be watched 24/7. While in 0.07 it's mostly a tool to kill time before bed, there's always a chance for special events or hidden rewards depending on what time you tune in.
Roaming Mode Infrastructure: I'm setting up the core rules and resource management systems: AP, Energy, LP, Money, and Time.
Being Late for School: Results in point deductions and a loss of Trust and RP with studious characters and certain Senseis.
Coming Home Late: Drains Trust, Love, and RP with Misaki and the Katsuragi household.
Sleep Deprivation: Staying awake continuously drains your AP. If your AP hits zero, the system will start consuming your HP instead, which can lead to a Timeline Reset or a Game Over depending on the situation. However, if you pass out at home, Dereus will carry you to bed. Fainting halves your overall recovery and permanently costs more Energy.
Lust Limit: The MC's Lust meter is a double-edged sword. You can convert it into LP via the Lust Link Drain, or harvest it into Nectar to use as a primary ingredient for Alchemy. But if the meter maxes out, the TAE will begin consuming the MC. Your HP will drain rapidly, resulting in a Game Over if you don't release the Lust in time.
The Watchdog System: This is a background process that runs constantly, monitoring everything in the game: Time, Statuses, Quests, and fully automated background events. This system is the starting point for all backend mechanics.
My System Design Philosophy: I don't play a lot of modern VN games. As a result, my Roaming Mode isn't going to be the standard "click a label or a location sign to trigger an event." Instead, I use the Watchdog system to silently manage the rules and time, while using the statuses of the MC and other characters as Triggers for both set Events and Random Events—similar to walking around the map in a classic RPG. When I think of roaming and freedom in gaming, Harvest Moon is my primary inspiration, and it heavily influences this project.
Breaking the Mold: I strongly dislike the traditional VN trope where the world pauses and waits for the protagonist. I don't want a system where you repeatedly give a girl wine to max out her affection, or where a girl loses her house key, waits outside for months while the player does other quests, and then immediately rewards the MC with her body the moment he finally hands the key over. That's not how reality works.
In TAE, the Quest System is strictly governed by Time and Character Emotions. If you neglect a character for too long, the stats you've built up will decay. You might have to start from scratch, or you might permanently lose their Route. (This is similar to the train event in 0.05, where the system secretly began judging your actions the moment you put on the VR headset.) Going forward, you won't know you've messed up until you face the consequences, forcing you to use those failures to find the right path in the next loop.
đź“– Game Content Overview
For those who might be new or unaware, the game is divided into three main pillars:
Main Story: A linear narrative. Failure means death (Reset Timeline / Game Over) until you reach the true endgame (which is a long way off). The tone is a Dark Psychological Drama, focusing on unraveling secrets, mysteries, and the underlying darkness within families, schools, society, and the world itself.
Secondary Stories (e.g., NPC2): These feature branching paths, rely heavily on player choices, and have their own distinct endings that may or may not tie into the Main Story. The tone focuses on the dark secrets behind specific characters and their need for TAE's power to fix their lives.
Side Stories: The most lighthearted and stress-relieving part of the game. These are inspired by popular tags in modern media (Anime, Manga, Doujin) like NTR, Old Man, or The Third Guy in 0.06. They cover a wide range of genres including Rom-Com, Drama, Mystery, and Humor. This is also where the community gets to participate directly—choosing models, naming characters, and voting on story tags via my Discord and Patreon.
Finally, I want to thank all the players and backers for giving me the opportunity to bring this project closer to the vision I've always had in my head. Thank you!
