Yes, I remember going to k-pop shows back then and none of the lightsticks were Bluetooth or changed colors, so fan projects (like when they hand out banners to everyone to hold up during certain songs) would hand out little different colored, sheer plastic bags to put over your lightstick so it would change its color. So yeah, that was the first time they saw their lightstick a different color, other than just a white light. It was such a beautiful surprise. That's also how/when we got "borahae" 💜

I cannot WAIT until you see them in concert. You will be absolutely blown away. I saw them twice in Vegas and once in Chicago and those were the best three nights of my life. But be warned, wear earplugs (Army is LOUD the the entire time) and pay attention because it seems to go by in the blink of an eye.

ARMYs communicate on twitter mainly. We call the community armytwt. We have ARMY accounts with big followings that plan and spread events to everyone. We have one for pretty much every city, every country, every place etc. Honestly, it might seem so strange to other fandoms especially non-kpop fandoms, but this is how we do it. It's a norm to all kpop fandoms. But I could not find any that is very collective and individualise as how ARMY moves. To think about it, this event, it wasn't supposed to be purple but a different color but apparently the store ran out of plastic bags with that color so ARMYs chose purple instead. And honestly, it's probably fate that we ended up with purple instead.

Also a lot of these surprise events occur bcz some take the initiative for all like in recent JK bday concert few army put bday hats on every seat and others passed along the msg to put the hats on. So it's really a beautiful community

I don't know if you know this but 2!3! Was named that bcz BTS starts their introduction with 213! This is BTS , always and that why the lyrics say 2!3! Forgot bad memories and smile

That was the birth of “borahae”! ARMY covered their bombs with purple paper, to surprise bts. They didn’t change colour at the time, they were just always white! And then because of that tae looked at the crowd and came up with the phrase “i purple you”, to mean “i will love and trust you for a long time”. This was the first time purple became the army/bts colour 💜

Oh man, I feel old but yeah back in the day, ARMY Bombs weren't as fancy as they are now so to change the color of it we had to put a colored plastic bag over it. It was done during the Wings tour as well and ARMYs were able to give them a rainbow ocean. As for fan projects, honestly shoutout to the ARMYs who organize those cause I can't imagine all the logistics involved. They're usually outside the venues handing out the items needed for the events, though sometimes they go around the venue and leave it on all the seats, and usually the item has instructions written on it on when it should be used.

The one you reacted to is an shorterned version of the song as the full version (second verse etc) it was banned on a lot of TV stations due to the lyric content. You asked how the surprise event works. Normally, fanbases organize something through social media. So I would recommend you guys look up if there will be any surprise event for your dates. Especially since I think it’s near Hobi’s birthday so that’s when, most definitely, there will be events from ARMY. Recently we had JK and Namjoon’s birthday, so Los Angeles ARMY organized surprise events for them (in different dates)

Surprise events are usually prepared online in advance before the concert! When the audience holds up slogans or makes a chant in these concerts/lives, BTS doesn't know about it ahead of time. I was at Arirang Stanford D3 and everyone in the audience held up banners, and in this one they covered the army bombs with purple film bc lightsticks didn't have the color-changing bluetooth back then 💜

Yes guys, this was the first time they saw purple army bombs. Army bombs were covered by purple fabric, so it seemed as if they were purple. This is when V coined the term "BORAHAE" and "I PURPLE YOU". The reason why you remember bits and pieces of this is because you saw it in BTS introduction video.

fun fact, when armys were preparing the surprise event for bts at the muster they almost went with yellow instead of purple. and fyi they put some sort of plastic bags on their army bombs because back then it didnt change colors
