A History of Crash Course
Dear patrons,
Crash Course could not be what it is without your support. Creating high-quality, fun, informative, and reliable content is incredibly resource intensive, but we believe in the value of making that sort of content available for free. Thanks to all of you sharing that belief and supporting it here on Patreon, we're able to make these videos accessible to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to them.
We've been working on something new and want to share it with you first. This is a Crash Course documentary produced by Nick Jenkins, featuring hosts, funders, and much of the team. We hope you see yourselves in this documentary, too—your support and community is the lifeblood of the channel.
We'll be publishing this on the Crash Course channel next week, so watch out for it there. Thank you so much for being here and helping make Crash Course possible. We hope you love this documentary as much as we do!
DFTBA,
Team Crash Course

This video was the thing that made me finally get a Patreon account and finally become a supporter. Crash Course is what I turn to when I’ve spent a whole day braining and need to put something back into the well. Knowing a little about the history was intriguing!
This is special. Please understand I am understating this SO MUCH.
My personal feeling that the best line from this whole video comes from Hank: "My biggest hope is that in 5 years Crash Course will still be around and that it will still be teaching lots of people, and not just teaching people about various topics but helping people get excited about learning and to feel that unironic enthusiasm that you can have in those moments where you realize that this is NOT just something you have to do so you can get a diploma, this is not some random hurdle that the system put in your way that you have to jump over in order to achieve adulthood or whatever, this is instead THE WORK OF ADULTHOOD."
I've just came here because of this video. I didn't know you have a Patreon! :)
Contact me if you want to do a program on Bourdon tube pressure gauges.
This was a remarkable peek behind the curtain, one that didn't diminish any of the wonder or magic of Crash Course. It's a true privilege to enjoy Crash Course and an immense honor to be one of its patrons. Thanks, everybody.
Thank you so much for the support, Debby! We really appreciate you being here and helping make Crash Course happen. :)
I loved seeing behind the scenes, and hearing from the key players! Keep doing what you're doing ... along with some more Crash Course Kids, please!
Thank you for the support, Ron!

Thank you so much for the support, Marco!
Um, I may have teared up a few times watching this! It's my absolute pleasure to be a Crash Course patron. Keep on doin' what you do so well -- educating and inspiring people all over the world. So happy to be along for the ride!
We're so happy to have you here, Jeanine! Thanks for everything!
This was fun! It's also interesting to see what direction people think they would like to see Crash Course head. I love the idea of gamified/immediate feedback education, and have made use of it both as a parent and an educator (Originator and of course Khan Academy have been huge as a parent, as an educator I got to do some play testing on the MITx, now edX platform). What I want to say as a patron though is that I hope you don't forget your core and keep making free educational videos without any barriers (logins, pretests, etc.) because these are otherwise missing in the educational space, and being able to just start a video and send it down well I do chores is actually very important.I never know as an educator being able to turn on a video and let it play or have students visit a video from any platform is very helpful.
Thank you for your support and your thoughts, Charles! Crash Course will always be a free educational resource, and it's because of patrons like you that we're able to do that. Thanks for helping make this happen!
Thank you for this video, I felt moved by it. Crash Course inspired me to try to get a job in the pedagogical/educational field and I appreciate your work so much.

This is such a lovely video! It was nice to see a few of the faces that we usually only see as names on the end credits. I’m happy and proud to be a patron, and wish I could do more. I certainly hope that after people see this wonderful video they consider being patrons so you well exceed your goal of 10,000. I appreciate all that everyone does to make CC as great as it is, and I can’t wait for the next 5, 10, 15+ years of videos 💜
Thank you so much, Sarah! Your support means so much to us!!
Lovely
Thanks, Bonnie!
