Inside Crash Course's Newest Series: Big Questions on US Government!

Crash Course has a new series starting September 15th! You're probably thinking, "Wait doesn't Crash Course already have a government series?" and you're right! But this isn’t your basic orientation to the three branches of government, checks and balances, and the courts. It’s one step deeper — it’s a primer for the words and phrases that viewers see in the headlines, on political platforms, and on their social media feeds.

Like, what’s a debt ceiling, and what happens when we raise it? What does a cabinet really do? What are the systems that shape American life, from the tax system to the immigration system? Why do some roles have term limits and not others? What do campaign finance laws prevent and allow? What’s the difference between redistricting and gerrymandering? And so much more.

The series is hosted by Kousha Navidar! Kousha Navidar wrote speeches and worked in a presidential administration after getting his Masters in Public Policy. Now, he hosts national shows on the radio and podcast about what's happening in the news and in the government. When he was 16 years old, he became a US citizen after moving her even earlier from Iran. Kousha brought his experience and performance to the series, reviewing scripts, thinking up recurring characters he could play, and adding personal anecdotes to each episode.

I’ve also watched “Power and Politics in US Government” on Study Hall. Is this at a comparable (e.g. college) level? Looking forward to more learning!
