Since its establishment in 1999, the organization Taglit-Birthright Israel has taken hundreds of thousands of young Jews on an all-expenses-paid trip to the Holy Land, encouraging them to settle down and have children in a country with the highest birth rate in the Western-aligned world. This week, June and Josh take a look at how Birthright functions, both as a natalist project and a backstop for The Most Moral Army In The World™ and its ongoing campaign of genocide against Palestine.

Adelson was the biggest financial backer of Netanyahu including by establishing (at a massive loss) the pro-Netanyahu free daily Yisrael Ha’Yom (Israel Today) newspaper that became the widest read paper within months because you could pick it up with your grocery shopping, for example. He also backed various other pro-Netanyahu media operations and talking-heads like Yinon Migal as well as being Trump’s biggest backer for the 2016 election. His widower, Miriam, picked up the mantle where Sheldon left off in terms of still being the biggest financial backer of Netanyahu.
As far as methods for retrieval, when the whole body can be brought to a hospital June is right it is surgical; however in the field when say, under fire, and whole body extraction is not an option the method is electrical stimulation of the prostate, which is a process first used on cattle.

Also there is a hilarious broad city episode about birthright trips. I thought they were exaggerating the encouraged horniness for comedic effect, but I guess it was literal
I had to look up exactly sperm retrieval is done. News articles seem to sanitize it as much as possible (a small piece of tissue is removed from the testis) but there is a Wikipedia article on the topic which also lists aspiration of the vas deferens and rectal probe electroejaculation as sperm retrieval methods. The only word I have for this is ghoulish
when l was on Birthright they just straight up told us that they called it "Birthrate" internally. And years later accompanying Taglit and having an American girlfriend was a thing an Israeli was talking about as an entirely normal experience
Sperms retrieval, as a phrase, is about as unsettling as zinky boys.

The sperm retrieval babies link up with what Josh was saying earlier about valorisation of IDF members as the 'best' of society, and thus with all your earlier coverage of eugenics. The soldier, by serving in a location of 'real' danger (evidence: he was killed), has proved the 'courage' that make him desirable breeding stock. There is an inherent narrative to it, but of course it is also (a) insane and (b) literally and directly out of Warhammer 40k.
Who knows—just as some would-be mothers or infertile couples select sperm from tall, 'healthy' donors, maybe the most patriotic/zealous ones will pay top dollar for this stuff.
