NAME

Nez’relona “Nero” Thal’zir

BACKGROUND

Born into a ruthless Dökkálfar society, Nero was raised in House Thal’zir, a minor house that was wiped out during a sanctioned extermination by a rival house. She was orphaned young in the destruction of her lineage, and like other young females, taken as spoils—to be used as slaves and brood mares.

Her position rose upon manifestation of her magic. Rather than an enslaved, disposable brood, she became an enslaved, disposable pawn; trained in secrecy, discipline, assassination, and infiltration… broken down to an empty shell and reshaped into a living weapon under the command of a cruel master. Over time, she became an efficient assassin with an impeccable success rate.

Her turning point came during what was meant to be a routine, unimportant assignment—the assassination of the former Princess of Lorndale, Minerva Estelle (Rhyse)

That mission was her first failure.

MAGIC & BLESSING

Nero is blessed by Lady Valantis, Goddess of Shrouds and Mists, granting her dominion over concealment and suppression of presence.

Her abilities manifest as:

• Total invisibility

• Masking sound, scent, and presence

• Creating veils of mist that distort perception (requires precise conditions)

CHARACTER & PERSONALITY

Nero is deeply distrustful, quick tempered, and easily irritated. Part of it comes from the hard life she survived, the rest is simply who she is. She bears trauma from her past, and does not like to think about her future. She has no grand goal, or distant ambition. Everything narrows down to one thing… Minerva, who she betrayed everything for and swore to serve.

Nero’s attachment to her is intense, and she possesses strong feelings, but none fit in a single category. They shift constantly—at times platonic, at times familial, at times, something closer to romantic.

But in whatever form, her devotion to Minerva is absolute.

Her only fear is being unneeded… discarded.

RELATIONSHIPS

Minerva:

The anchor of Nero’s existence. Nero is fiercely protective, intensely loyal, and completely dependent on her presence.

Adam:

A persistent source of irritation. Nero considers him insolent and loathes him instinctively, deeper than any other male; his mere presence disrupts her composure. But despite that, she harbors grudging respect for his competence in combat and his keen intelligence… and something else she refuses to examine.
