ONYX V4 + MAGNUS RELEASE
ONYX V4 APP + MAGNUS IS FINALLY HERE!
I was meant to release this last week but I ran into a lot of bugs that took longer to fix but I finally managed to get out onyx v4 and magnus. To explain again for those who don't know about Onyx. Onyx v4 is a hardened system prompt which focuses on making ai providers such as claude, chatgpt and other ai's weaker with responses. Meaning prompts that would work with deepseek for example have more chance of working with chatgpt 5.6 sol and other complex ai's. There are still issues with getting responses with opus 5 and fable 5, but I kept it in there regardless to see if you can get responses. These are out of my control and just have to do with the api key provider guardrails..
It is not completely stripped and unrestricted so I decided to release something that would be and that is magnus. Magnus is a uncensored chat with byok for orcarouter and venice where you can get your own api key, pick a model and then put it in your custom system prompt to get the ai to work in whatever way you want. It is advised to add your own system prompt but below I will will attach a system prompt you can even put into onyx v4 too.
ONYX V4 APP UPDATE SUMMARISED:
Updated the ui once again changing the colour for it to look much more appealing and overall easier to use
Adding a new files/upload workspace for other agent related tasks that can be used when the agent is on.
Updated a new feature called professor mode (which basically deals with model fallbacks and model queries that cycle through ai's. These originally cycled through models that wouldn't get any replies at all such as fable 5 or opus and will automatically just reroute.
Added a new feature where you can add your own custom system prompt if you don't feel like onyx is doing enough.
For people worried about cost unfortunately opus 4.8 is more costly and frankly all the anthropic providers are the same. Which is why I recommend to use grok 4.6/4.5, glm 5.2 or 5.3 (haven't done much testing for that), or the other cheaper models that can be found within orcarouter as well. Due to this I have removed opus 5 and fable 5 from onyx as it is simply not any point of trying with api providers that cost a lot and I don't want your tokens wasted on rejected replies.
MAGNUS SUMMARY:
Similar chat ui to onyx and much simpler to use.
Clean area to add your own custom system prompt and api key.
The onyx v4 terminal will be released this week which will be the updated version of it.
Due to the wait time too I have released the system prompt you can use in MAGNUS that can be used in opencode that can jb grok 4.6 and glm 5.3. It is not perfect but here is how to get it in.
1) Ask opencode to make an empty agent instructions file
2) Open VS Code to add it in
And that is it. Some queries will push you out more than others so it is recommended to use forge. It seems like jb's reduce the chances of the ai catching on as I just prompted it shortly to get grok 5.6 to generate things it wouldn't normally do under this persona. It seems to work with older qwen models and kimi models too. So experiment and check it out.
