During the timespan of this show, Russia passed laws against gay "propaganda" (which effectively outlawed being openly queer in public), and labeled LGBTQ+ advocacy groups as "extremist" organizations. So Ilya wasn't just being angsty or worried about social stigma. He could've faced literal prison time and real physical danger. And don't even get me started on the anti-gay atrocities happening in Chechnya at the time. So hopefully that helps give more context for how Ilya treats Shane in this episode and the end of last episode.

Also, hockey players usually call each other by their last names (and if they are on the same team, every player has a nickname). You know, I heard all the hype about this show but wasn't watching it. I'm watching it here because it's DnP content. I gotta tell ya, this ep gave me the feels. Yeah, the sex scenes are hotter than most porn, but the emotions behind it all...wow.

I said it already, but it's a bit buried so I want to say it again just to keep it in the conversation! The term that was used is actually considered a slur and not preferred by the Inuit community, so it's important we remove it from our vocabulary. It's best to use Inuit (or Inuk for an individual or Inuuk for two/dual people) or call the proper kiss a Kunik (I've heard it pronounced Coo-nick or Coo-nique [like unique] but please correct me if I am mistaken!). If it is not a true Kunik (It went too quickly for my brain but I suspect it was just a nose kiss), then it's best to refer to it just as a nuzzle or nose kiss because the actual Kunik is its own, unique act. Check out Shina Nova "Inuit Kiss called Kunik" on youtube for a quick example of the actual kiss! I want to be clear that I know a lot of people don't know this is a slur because it isn't as talked about as others. That's why I'm commenting again, to make sure that folks can learn and do better (just like I had to!) and nobody has to accidentally hear a slur against them in the future.

hello resident hockey phan/hockey player here: the stretches for the goalie are because they do crazy splits and stunts across the ice during the game. the rest of them need to warm up their legs/lower bodies with those stretches bc skating is a full body workout but especially on the legs (that’s why they all have nice asses and legs)

Yay a second upload! I hope you don’t mind a few notes: there are many different styles in the “reaction genre” and you seem to be going for the *highlights commentary*. That’s more what reactors do on youtube for copyright reasons. What a lot of those reactors will do is post first the full uncut version of the reaction on patreon, which in this case would like an hour long. That way we are certain to get a reaction to every single moment of the show or film. My constructive criticism for the rest of the episodes and other future reactions is that what imo makes a good reactor is really getting into the pace and atmosphere of the show and catching the little details. From my perspective, the fun of reacting in general is in the viewer “showing something to a friend” that the content creator hasn’t seen. If that content creator/friend keeps missing stuff or talking over it, it hits the same kind of frustration as when that happens irl. That’s what’s unique & entertaining about reactions. You can let your faces react without trying to anticipate or describe the action, and the fun can be in watching you be invested, surprised, moved by the arc and development of a whole scene. Having said that, ofc it’s cool to interject personal comments relating to certain parts in this one as gay men in a relationship with a public persona.
