The praying mantis egg sacks don’t look like pinecones, they’re just mounds. When i was like ten they made an egg sack under my bed and then it hatched in the night so as I was trying to fall asleep I looked up and saw the silhouettes of the praying mantises like, looming over me in the darkness, it was horrible. Then my room was full of like thousands of tiny miniature praying mantises and I had to sleep on the couch for a week. Not shaped like a pinecone at all.
