Do you know how many plants with normal/fancy names there are. I googled it and it’s a lot. Still my guess is cane( like sugarcane) it would make to much sense for it to be related to the red hair

Reminds me of the Scallions from the VeggieTales animations. The producers, Big Idea Productions, never gave any of them a real name, and they had been with the show since day one. One of them even comments on this gaffe during a bit part.
I don't need to know Red's real name, I just want to know IF he has a real name. Did he ever have a planned name that never came up, or was it just a placeholder that turned into a running joke before there was a chance to fix it? Or was he maybe even intended to be a short lived character that wouldn't be around long enough to need a name in the first place?
Now we of course need a femme-Keidran Red (Scarlett) character sheet. :)

I'd like to imagine Red's full name to be Redrick or something and that he just goes by Red because it sounds cooler 😎

You know thinking about his backstory, desires and love interest. Red really fits the profile of a generic fantasy protagonist, with even his name being a nickname rather than a proper name. In a way he also fits as a foil to Trace. I mean compare and contrast him to Trace. Both have Keidran love interest, both are determined to fulfil their goals,but beyond that they contrast each other greatly. Trace was a powerful protégée of magic who was able to usurp the Templars,while Red's Magic is almost non-functional beyond a very specific usage and he couldn't even join the Templars as mook. Hell even their hair colors contrast. In another version of this comic Red could have been the main protagonist clashing against the Evil overlord Trace Legacy, traveling with his magical GF Raine. Learning how complex the world really is and how Keidran and Humans don't have to be enemies. Especially once its reveled Raine is a Keidran hybrid herself. I wonder if this was intentional from Tom. Perhaps in the Universe where Trace stayed Evil its Red who is the great hero of the land...
And Lara is the pivot point for evil trace becoming less of a dick.( from the AU were Lara follows, Trace after the massacre)

So, are we all just going to admit that Red doesn't have a proper name and we've all been played? The only hint we've ever had is it's "like the flower", which maybe why he just goes by Red? Or he's just "all the rest" that somehow got elevated to the B team.
I'm looking forward to the name reveal party. Will there be explosions?
