Lynx Kingdom
#1 Color vote, Lt Reed infiltrating the Lynx kingdom in disguise, suggested by Even!
I enjoyed painting the background for this. The architecture is an esthetic I really enjoy, but one I've never had the opportunity to draw before. And yes, the lynx are living in a desert oasis here. When I first drew the sketch I legit just... forgot lynxes in real life are usually from high altitude forests and snowy regions. XD Maybe TK lynxes are just different, or this is an offshoot tribe. Perhaps their big paws help with the soft shifting sands and the fluffy coats are for cold desert nights instead.

Even the males look like femboys.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS
Marry him you fool!
Deserts are also not always tropical, just extremely dry.
I seem to recall there being a desert in Alaska (Kobuk?)
Bobcats are part of the Lynx family and have quite a wide variety of habitats, so desert is not such a stretch at all!
What a way to ‘infiltrate’ the upper echelons of Lynx Keidran society!
I can understand this Lynx Prince, Lynx-LtReed is really a beautifull woman !
This is an absolutely gorgeous piece, and I’m not just talking about the Lynx prince!
This is one of Tom's most beautiful and detailed colours yet. I love everything about it.
There's Iberian lynxes on the Andalusian plains in Spain, which are quite arid! I thought this guy was a bobcat (desert for sure) due to the white underside of his tail. Lynxes have "ink dipped" tailtips, bobcats have a white underside. :)
Weeeelll there are Iberian Lynx in Spain, and bobcats live all over the US in different climates! So maybe they're closer to one of those. ^^
This turned out beautifully! Excellent work.
A fine Voe is he not?😉
For her, I agree
That the lynx civilization has settled in the desert isn't very far-fetched. Deserts form in the rain shadows of mountains, and it could be with the development of agriculture that Lynx tribes settled more fertile desert locations instead of the jungle side of the mountains already claimed by larger feline tribes like the tigers. Isolated mountain tribes may still exist, or even mountain pilgrimages if the cultures are still connected.
Iberian lynxes live in areas near some arid zones, and iberia had a huge muslim influence on its architecture, so i don't see why the places that lynx keidran lived couldn't have been influenced by some culture with islamic style architecture. (perhaps Caracals? which are a closely related family of cats)
i love how great everthing looks coloured and i love the small details aswell it still makes me want to visit
(previously) 'Look son, give it a chance ... You know the Queens Collar enchantment, it wouldn't pick someone unsuitable for ruling with you, no matter what kind of outsider they were originally. Your mother, bless her, she adjusted and we never had a boring day in all the time we had together. Go! Go talk to her, before she jumps out of her skin!!'
🎶 Midnight at the oasis...Take your lynxes to beh-edd... 🎶
It can get very cold in deserts. But also; yes, large paws are beneficial in hot climates, to stay on top of the sands instead of sinking into them.
Being a sentient race, they can live wherever they want and adjust to the climate probably. Another artist has a fennec living quite well in a snow zone.
It occurs to me that this would be a Bad Time for the disguise to fail... ;-)
I rather get the impression he isn't fooled for a moment, and doesn't care... :)
I need a million more pics of the Lynx Prince. He's adorable... and very affectionate! I bet this is the way he greets all the pretty girls (and boys). Great job, Tom!
lol the guard at the back with the green cloth covering his face!
I imagine it's a see through cloth of some sort. Something that allows them to look around but no one can see their face to see what their looking at,and for intimidation. Like a pair of shades on a guard.
Femboy lynx is a cutie! And Lt Reed looks amazing in her outfit!
Marry the femboy prince this instant
What a go-getter that Lt.Reed I'd. Five minutes in on her first infiltration mission and she already has the hand of the Lynx Prince. I guess her exotic Grey fur helped catch his eye. And as for those backgrounds with all the colors and ambient Lynx...just wonderful.
Prince Twynx is femboy made into royalty. All hail!
That's charming! And much as I liked the black-and-white version, the colours really seem to help bring out their personalities. :)
