Not to pull a pretty dark thread here, but what do they plan to do with Reni? At best she’s just a showy way to make the people fear them but at worst I suspect they’d try to use the natural mana in dragons in some nasty ways.
Dragons naturally cause mana crystals to grow around them. Their nests are usually full of them. With the occasional production of a flawless mana crystal. She's probably the Legacy's "golden goose" not to mention a solid source of mana for Flora in case she took up magic in this au.

Yeah, this was one of those times when I would have been shocked if it wasn't coloured, and first at that. Getting some Lord and Lady Briarwood from them this way as well...

"I-I'm sorry, my lord," they stammered, "They just stood there, watching, I'll remove them at once--" "No," Flora cut the artist off with a curt word. "I like them. Let everyone see that our enemies are too afraid to approach us." Trace put his uncorrupted hand to his chin, magical possibilities whirling in his mind. "Hmm, and besides, I think I can do something with this..."
I think the shadow people on the roof is Nate and Zen either plotting to steal something or trying to rescue rain. I’d like to think it’s to save rain.
poor reni i wish i could just run in and save her by using the immense magical power i would have and just knock everyone out with it and only kill if i absolutely have to reni deserves to be happy and loved and cuddled

It's nice to see Trace still had a humble outfit despite his power and postion. Very ulitarian rather than something ostatious...thought it seems there are folks on that roof there who don't appreciate his new style.
