Laura: You wanna go to McDonald’s and get some of their buttermilk crispy tenders with some packs of Szechwan sauce to go with them? Willow: But they don’t carry the Szechwan sauce anymore. Laura: AAAAHHHH!!!! (faints) Willow: That haunted house didn’t scare you, but this did? Man, people of the living are weird.
I’m sorry… but this is just way too much of a Double Whammy for me to do a story comment. You’ve got Two Haunted House things going down on the same day. This, and that Trace owns the Legacy Estate, which, it appears, is Disney’s “The Haunted Mansion” but more dangerous, inserted in the TKverse.

Laura: "AH! Hide!" *Yanks Willow into maintenance closet.* Willow: "What's wrong? I thought you weren't afraid of ghosts." Laura: "I-I'm not! It just... He's here." Willow: "He? He who?" *Peeks out of closet as Nat and a slightly spooked Keith walk past.* "Oh! Isn't that the Basitin boy you used to date? We should go say h-mmmph!" Laura, covering Willow's mouth: "Nope! We should stay right here and wait for them to leave." Willow, shaking off Laura's hand: "Rrmph. I don't understand. You don't want to talk to him?" Laura: "It's not that. It's just... we haven't really spoken since... everything happened. And I don't want the first time we talk again to be awkward. If I go out there now with you, he might think we're... together." Willow: "But... we are together?" Laura: "Yeah. But he might think we're, like, TOGETHER, together. Get it?" Willow: "Not... really?"

Is Laura alive in this AU? "Hang out with a spirit" seems to imply she doesn't count herself in that group.
I think the current sketchverse fanon for the Modern AU is that Laura is alive and is roommates with Kat, yes.
