I'm thinking, if she keeps not asking, then she wants the answer to be "yes". For some reason this is a thing we do. Lesbians will date for months — or rarely a year or two — before confirming whether all those nights out together were dates.

So you're talking to your friend about meeting up and when you both agree on a future day and time, your friend replies with "it's a date." So poor socially awkward Raine has a narrow concept and definition of 'date'.
I think it might also be uncertainty about Raine's sexuality.

Probably why Trace hooked up with her, she was a rebound Saria.
