I think Red blew up something that he was suppose to, he helped decrease the surplus population.
I think the problem wasn't the orpganage, I think it was the plant that got him kicked out.

Probably Reed (close enough to Red, name of a plant, begins with B|R|P) but we'll never know for sure. I think kinda Reed is the convention for now.
