Kat would have been mercilessly mistreated by other Soviet soldiers, not because she was a cat but because she's a girl.
Or because she's a mix of many Keidran race (Because... You know, Stalin and his "One ethnie, One Soviet Republic" politics, things like that) so she did not fit in any of "groups"
