The storm took one look at the angry basitin , and decided to find another parade to rain on.

No challenge, that storm's a bit weak.

It's a very classic heroic pose and painting, but I can't help but think she's about to break out a spin attack and kick that storm's butt back to where it came from. King Adelaide takes no guff, even from natural phenomenon.

I heard Adelaide once challenged Chuck Norris to a fight. Years later, everything around them is gone and they're still fighting. (Hopefully, this isn't a "too soon" joke.)

Reminds me when King Adelaide watched Keith and the rest of the crew sail away on the Na'Rella on Page 612, saying "A storm is brewing in the north. There may soon come a time when we will be the ones to come to him." Perhaps the storm Jade is watching is the same one that hit the Na'Rella on its journey back to the main continent.

I thought this would look great colored. I was wrong. This is jaw dropping great. I have found my new desktop wallpaper.

Jade takes her job seriously. And there are most certainly storm clouds on the mainland that may come their way.

She prefers a lighter touch. But if properly motivated, beware.

Royal Guard: "Your Majesty! You should get inside!" Jade: "Don't worry about me. I won't die from a little gust!" Later, the King caught a bad case of the cold. Jade: "Sniff... Not a word... Achoo! That's the order..." RG holding a bowl of soup: "Sigh... every time... "

Her guards cares about her. There is a vase of flowers on her nightstand.

As a lifelong Long Island resident, I fully Identify with standing on the beach, even a beach overlook, staring into the storm. I've always wished I was a forest dweller (not that I hate the sea shore) but this is one of those shoreline experiences that I count myself lucky and blessed to have had in my life! As always, fantastic work Tom!

You know, a lot of the color posts usually have some degree of horny. Not that that is a bad thing, but it is nice to see something 100% serious. Then again I suppose if you are into muscle mommy this could still be horny. There is no escape.

Ah yes, the "I'm going to beat this storm up, make it submit and throw it back!" look!

Anyone else get Stormlight Archive vibes from this? :) Gosh, how freaking cool would it be for Tom to get illustration work from Dragonsteel for some official Stormlight stuff??

I could see the potential for this straight away when the sketch version dropped and I'm pleased to have been proven right, because this looks excellent in the colour version. I feel I'm kind of repeating my feedback from the sketch, since on the artistic side it's basically the same... just with literally and metaphorically more atmosphere and detail. The extra detail on the colour version obviously sells the feel of the wind movement even better. It's not that the sketch did a bad job, far from it, but the way the palm tree foliage blows in the background behind Jade makes the storm front feel even more powerful. And it's easier to pick out the individual leaves and blades of grass being blown through the air by the force because of the extra level of detail. The distant mountain chain that you added/expanded on in the colour version with clouds/fog surrounding helps give the scene an even bigger sense of scale (some very nice highlights from the sunset on the exposed areas) The subtle change in the coast below the cliff also improves the feel of Jade looking down from on high, and adds to the feel of the viewer being right on the cliff edge, even though Jade and the POV doesn't change between the sketch and the colour version. The reflections and storm cloud were already fantastic in the sketch, but the greater detail and colour take it up that final notch. The sunset behind the storm cloud partially reflecting off the sea is icing on the cake. So yeah, "it's the same, but better". But the "better" is really, really good. Really glad this got picked, and you nailed it Tom.
