Ankles? BARE ANKLES!? Scandalous! (Yes, I know the Western's don't have that taboo.)
Love how they use their tails to hold onto the support post.
Mask forbid they catch a Bass...
kinda reminds me of the Polynesians!
I love to see little bits of worldbuilding and culture in sketches like this, stuff we'd probably never have time to see in the main comic
Western Bas are my fave <3
Go Fish.
aren't those the Sri Lankan fishing thingies they are standing on? I love it. nice work Thom.
Heck even Native Americans use them. Salmon hunters here on Oregon build them out from the shore.
Nice
Yay, return of Merenda!
And it was recorded on that day that Steve the Fish's last words were "Worth it!"
Merenda: This is boring, let's use dynamite instead! Merenda's Friend: Okay.
DO NOT try this around any dog Keidran. This just makes me think of 'The Loaded Dog' by Henry Lawson.
Feesh +1
Literally was fishing earlier today when this came through
How do I catch one of these?
It looks like you sit on a platform attached to a mast that's in the ocean and wait for a fish to swim by, then you stab it with a spear. That is what you're asking about. Right?
This is … perfect.
Two beautiful Basitin ladies spear fishing? Gorgeous.
Careful with the tail tips in the water, or you'll get bitten! 😰 🐟 🎣
They might evolve into Slowbros.
Oh that's cool!
Shall we call the other one Frenda?
Carver: "Give me a sword or a pair of knives, and I can hold my own in any fight or contest. Spearfishing, on the other hand? Apparently, sharp metal beats wood." Basitin Carpenter: "I just sold you that boat yesterday. Are you telling me you sank it in less than 24 hours?!?"
I usually imagine spearfishing being done while swimming in the water, but I guess that's not strictly required. It looks like they're squatting on two masts of a ship that sank in fairly shallow water, so I'm a little curious about the backstory there.
I think those are purpose built fishing platforms.
Very sexy AND adorable!
When this was being drawn, I thought it was going in a much different direction with the girls on poles
I wonder. Is Meranda's friend wrapping her tail around the pole for support, or did it just end up that way?
Looks like both of them are wrapping their tails around the poles, so I presume it’s to steady themselves.
So wholesome. Love it 😊
NOOOO NOT THE FISHIES 🥺
Meranda! Always love to see her and her sister. They both look absolutely amazing and beautiful! :)
I love it.
