Heh. Around here, we've had squirrel-induced outages several times. Once, just once, it was power; there was a bright flash, a loud noise, and no light. Further investigation showed that a squirrel had chewed into the 440-volt three-phase power cable feeding my building. It was then an ex-squirrel. The other squirrels left the power cables alone after that. On two other occasions, we lost comms, phone, internet, and TV. Apparently, squirrels like the taste of copper wire. AT&T moved us to fibre-optic, much faster... and it seems that squirrels don't like the taste of glass fibre, as no more outages.
It's the texture and taste of the jacket ingredients material. The copper and aluminum they dislike for the metallic and galvanic tastes.
