Poor Roselyn just could not catch a break, huh? I am guessing this is after the Dragon Masquerade, but I could be wrong. Still, it's clear how Saria may have had a softening effect over time-hopefully he started to see Rose as a companion in time. Still, the expressions here are great!
[Rose pulls out her gun and shoots Trace] Saria: Oh, my god! You just killed him, Rose! Rose: He's a bureaucrat, Saria! I-I don't respect him! Saria: Um... Rose, I think you've said that before. That's out of context here. Rose: NAH!

Actually this WASNT Trace’s first meeting with Rose, as he was there when she was brought to the academy he attended as a student after she was caught trying to find her cousin Euchre! He almost certainly saw her, because he was sent to fetch the head Templar.

No? That was never the canon, the slave bought by Trace was a completely different Keidran who was only ever seen in one panel. Rose was rescued by Saria before she and Trace had even met and stuck with her ever since.

As much as I'd like to think that (me being a lefty and all), most likely this is a case where the artist needed to make him look more menacing and, because of where Trace is in the drawing, he had to put the sword in Trace's left hand.

So Rose was Saria's friend is this something akin to a life debt like Chewbacca to han solo? Gotta say it's kinda odd seeing Rose in traditional Keidran garb outside of the dragon mask comic....and flash backs, i wonder if we'll ever see Raine in Keidram form in traditional Keidran Garb
Considering the path he took after Saria's death, his reaction here makes an alarming amount of sense, unfortunately. There had to be a bit of a bigot in him already for him to go off the deep end like that. I suspect that even pre-Saria's death Trace would be horrified at what he's become.
In the comic flashbacks from ages ago, Trace's bigotry was casual. He didn't hate the Keidran or want to make them suffer, but he didn't see anything wrong with keeping them as slaves, either.

I think Rose is the best secondary character in the entire story line! Just like anyone you care about, I hate the thought of her 'crossing the veil' into eternity, but knowing how much she loved and missed her best friend Saria, I would feel terrible if she didn't get to be with her. Beyond that, I think she's somewhat torn herself over Trace and Flora. Wanting to protect them and their child.
Saria: "It's...complicated."
Get it, Saria.
Trace: "...so, you freed her from imprisonment and almost-certain execution, and offered her a place to stay?" Saria: "That's about the gist of it, yes." Trace: "And she's in the bed because...?" Saria: "Well, were you expecting her to sleep on a mat on the floor?" Trace: "I mean, now that you mention it--" Saria: "TRACE!!!"
The old Trace... but love will out! Even the old Trace begrudgingly accepts his wife's friend!
