Magic Mistletoe is a powerful tool but it's effects are strong and difficult to control.

Man, there is no way Maren was oblivious to the effects. She just chose to intercept the squirrel before Sythe could.
But doesn't it usually work the other way around? I find it a bit odd seeing Maren kiss Nibbly in this way, It'd make more sense if Nibbly kissed Maren I think
There's one time where Flora tried to hang it up, but was interrupted by Mike and Evals. However, she was talking with Trace at the time and he went deep under its influence. Because she had it near her butt, a bit like the Tail Bells her Culture tend to use while hiding it from the aforementioned Slaves, Travis jumped into her butt right in front of them. You can easily find that piece online "Magical Mistletoe Flora & Trace" and you should be able to find it relatively quickly.
Meanwhile, Sythe walks away blissfully unaware of what's going on nor realizing he could have had his Christmas wish.
