I'm not sure if it's easy to notice, but it looks as if Trace only gave her an extra pair of ears. Look closely at the sides of her face.

Is this cannon? I always assumed Maren was just a hybrid (like what Trace's kid will probably be.) Also they were apparently friends in the old life so not sure why Trace would "curse" her.
