Dragon Lore Sheet
Some general information about dragons, suggested by Van Korben! Much of this is stuff I've covered elsewhere, but I was tasked with making a ref sheet for dragons in general, so this is a bunch of information collected into one place. Some of it is new. Hope you like it! Non-text version of the background attached as well.
(This was suggested ages ago, but was a pain in the butt for me to figure out what to say about the dragons! Sorry about that, Van Korben!)

Thanks for the lore ! It's welcomed !
ITS LOREEEEEEEEEE!
I notice the 'human' holding the egg has slightly pointed ears, like Reni's human form. Makes me want to know so much more about these likely one-off characters! :D
I'm stealing most of this for my own setting.
Huh, the bit about The Masks kinda reframes how powerful I thought they were supposed to be. Still very powerful, but a tier down the chain from where I thought they were.
Love it ^^ The self-regulation system is super interesting and creative! Seeing all the lore that runs in the background is a joy to read :)
The dragon! The dragon! (Animaniacs reference)
Idraziel (my alter-ego): “Dragons may be immortal but they are not invincible. Like someone once said, ‘if they move, I can kill ‘em’. Furthermore, if dragons are revered as gods, then it would take a demon like me to kill said gods!”
Huh, for some reason it's taking me back to that one Pokemon episode with the Valley of the Charizards. Always good to have more of the lores! :D
So based on this lore does that mean if a dragon got old and powerful enough that eventually they would be the only dragon left because they are using all of the available ambient magic? Of course once they died hundreds of dragon eggs would begin to hatch but until then they would be a dwindling population until the old dragon was the only one left.
Maybe even that very old powerful dragon was the 4th Mask and this is like a cycle for them.
Well now this just makes me more curious about Clovis’s situation
“Be careful with that egg, okay little one?!”
Holy crap! The human's holding an egg!
LLLLLOOOORRRRRREEE!!!!!
I'm currently worldbuilding for tabletop RPGs. When Thom first introduced draconic communication in-universe, I thought the concept was fantastic, using telepathy as their key method of communication. It's not the first time I had seen it; Christopher Paolini had beaten such by my observation with the Inheritance Cycle, but it's still nice to see the trend continuing. From a certain logical perspective, it makes sense. Dragons have almost always been viewed as beings of immense magical potential, and if you think on anatomy and biology, a dragon wouldn't be able to speak without sounding like they have a speech impediment, or otherwise being completely unintelligible; so using telepathy is just easier. In my own writings, I use a similar concept, but dragons are still limited by what languages they know, and the telepathy is almost always one-way. Anyone within "earshot" can hear the dragons "speaking" to those around them, but they have to talk back in order to be heard; there's nothing wrong with a dragon's sense of hearing. However, it would still be difficult for me to communicate with a Chinese dragon, given I don't know Mandarin, and unless they know English, I wouldn't understand them either. Thom handwaves that in-universe, and that's perfectly fine.
Ah, another Paolini fan I see! and also a fellow writer? what sort of things have you written?
I like how incompatibility of different species is caused not by very base of process of amphimixis, but by restrictions of the gods. Because creation of new life is a divine will and is a process inconceivable for mortals.
Like how you decide to put the goofiest of them all in the foreground :D doofus_rick.png What are the chances of seeing these two another time, like it was with that wolf girl from ref?
Oh, finally, I was rooting for that one. Was afraid you'd shelve it for good, like you tend to do with projects like that. Thank you, Tom! Nailed it!
Is there a discord server or something I can go to and discuss lore like this? I have theories and ideas, but no one to talk about them with.
I don't know about a whole server but I could discuss things with you! Send me a username and I'll send you an invite!
So many questions, so little lore… but this is really cool.
so dragon's in this world doesn't go over a set amount of them? well i wonder how that works and how they can be bioligically immortal maybe they're using magic passively to be immortal in that way without knowing but atleast i do hope i can befriend one if i were in the world becouse i do like dragons
This is great. I love how this turned out and just how much lore you’ve given us here.
As an author, this gave me a great idea for a story!
That makes two of us!
Hey, fyi your new stuff isn't showing up in your recent posts tab. I usually just refresh that when you post something new, but it hasn't had anything past window shopping, I need to use the link in the email. Using the browser version on an android if that helps the troubleshooting
I've been having the same issue. Are you mostly getting post from around 2017? Cause mines a mix between new posts and those from around 2017.
Delicious lore
Absolutely awesome!
Oh hey! Now this is a pleasant surprise! Nice to see it finally got drawn! X3
Always be polite to large magical creatures~
For thou are tasty and good with ketchup.
LETS GOOOOO DRAGON LOREEEEE >:D
The LOOOORE
Epic!
Why do I get the very distinct feeling that the hybrid child of Flora and Trace, has Nora to thank for it's future existence? She seems to love both Trace and Flora, realises that Trace likely wouldn't handle a harem style relationship well, so, she vicariously decided to have a child, through Flora with Trace, which also explains why she's currently resting in her cave...
You know, that's a very interesting take.
Wake up babe new TK lore just dropped
Is that Slugcat in the house?
Could he, could be a young dragon… hard to tell without colour/shading…
I want to give Nora and Reni a big hug.
Me too, but then… I usually want to!
Interesting lore! Though compatible with all species I imagen Basitin dragons are the most rare as they have the least overt magic potential, or maybe they value their natural resistance to magic?
Those ears...is that person an elf?
I'm going to assume human. Elves are not established canon in-universe, but humans have proven themselves to be surprisingly mutable. Without referencing sketches, I cite Seraphina as my example. She, as an extreme form of adrakist, has taken that mutable factor and physically twisted her body (magically) to resemble something like a dragon.
The dragon in the back doesn't seem to approve what's going on in the foreground.
A nice look into the origins of the dragons
