Why Star Rupture could be the next big game

It isn’t often I say things like that ‘the next big thing’ because I am a British Gent, I find that understatement is often the right thing to do. Many times, in my life, absolute chaos has happened around me and all I would do is sip my proverbial cup of tea and fix a firm stance ready to respond in a calm and moderated manner.

I digress,

Star Rupture is one of those games that captures people’s attention in all the right ways, it has familiarity as it channels many of the good parts of Satisfactory and Factorio while also treading a new path into the FPS genre and introducing environmental nightmares like walls of fire that there is no escape from.

Star Rupture so far has got many peoples attention, it has a clean and crisp UI and building set of mechanics that make building almost a joy, add in the unlockable camera drone and its dam near flawless. (shame about the ‘F’ removal of buildings taking a bit too long for my liking)

It has a humour and charm that places 4 prisoners on a planet that the system then forces them to their bidding by making them essentially mine the planet for the company’s enrichment. Its an all too familiar story that somehow carries a massive wedge of ‘feeling’, drawing the player and character together in a spiral of play that ultimately made me want to do well for the character. Odd I know.

Overall this game has some nice tropes, the sun exploding from time to time is almost all you need to mention to punctuate the fact that the game hates you, each time it happens it is not a huge amount of warning and often the player has to take care to watch the sky to see the colour change to avoid being turned into a marshmallow on the fire of an actual sun.

Lots of positives to take home here, the game itself is only 13 GBP which is quite good, its like when Factorio came out and was I believe no more than this yet has provided years of entertainment.

I would heartily recommend this game to all players of the genre; it’s a peach of a game and so far it has so many wonderful moments that made me genuinely sit back and smile.
