Where are we Going With This Excel Thing?

When we set out to create an excel file it was with the express desire to resolve what in the game was a major pain in the bottom which was placing sell orders for all the nonsense I made in industry. There would be times when I would be cycling 15 accounts and over 30 accounts making stuff and I would change what I made just to avoid the nightmare of having to list 150 items. (I recall a time when I made over 300 cargo expander II’s just to avoid the clicks….the horror…)

Now the excel is part of the daily process of making stuff in EVE, I make on average over 100 items across 7 accounts (decided not to sub all 15 accounts as I am not a masochist!) and the process is:

SO as you can see the excel sheet is only opened once in the process so that it avoids all the issues of refresh delays, when the items are ready to be sold to the market and sat already in the hanger – with this revelation – I feel this part of the excel is done.

The mind now turns to the next step – industry profiling and planning.

Design Problem we are Solving: The ability to plug in a ship with a fit and then get a list of build materials and the buy orders for them on the Jita market.

Why do this?

I always like the idea of making ships and T2 ships present quite a challenge in that they have a multistage build, T2 parts and minerals combined with PI items. The ability to have a stock of materials and then say “let’s build 5 Golems” the sheet should be able to pull a full list of items needed, parts needed, what we have built already and then provide a balance of the materials needed.

Challenges:

the problem will always be how to pull the parts for a T2 ship, how to compare with a list of stock already made and then how to factor in PE levels as this has a material impact on the quantity needed.

Next Steps:

Produce the sheet and test with members – see where the challenges are, create a sheet that can pull through stock and levels and then see if its accurate.

Let us know via Discord or comments your thoughts on this next step, I have incorporated loads of feedback to v1.1 of the excel but welcome any and all feedback. There are some open items to resolve but no feature blocking bugs.
