Trying out PUSH PULL manufacturing.

So this post is about what we are trying to do in the videos at the moment. Basically Snowflake base as a platform kinda sucks as a manufacturing plant as you cannot use bots and logistics, belts is all you have with arms. so its kinda oldschool!

So the challenge of what we were trying to build was a supply and demand setup where you can create certain amounts of things and then stop, then when supply reaches a point you can then request the items. Having only one belt to supply an entire megabase is certainly a challenge but so far i think we have got it working well.

So what did we build:

1 - A single belt runs the entire length of the base and sensors detect what is on that belt, it then makes demands for materials from the various factories around the belt and this then creates a full supply and demand push pull system.

2 - Setting up each factory to make only what is needed was a real joy, its been so typical in Factorio to just produce at full speed and capacity, to tailor this is something i plan to do in every run now

3 - Green circuits will be the death of this sytem, each item uses to many of them that so far the single belt is being overwhelmed by the request for green chips, might even be better to have green chips directly loaded instead...hmmmm.

4 - it was really fun, so often things in factorio are a blast but this felt like a learning point ontop of that. i learnt about signals, radars, demands etc and it was a real blast. loved it.

Conclusion -

I would totally do this again, here is the blueprint if you want to try it out, well worth a go.
