Why India Will Never be a Superpower

[Early Access]

Hello Patrons,

For your early video this week we've got another instalment in our explainer vids. This one is focused on India, it's got a little bit of history and a little bit of modern context. We hope you enjoy it!

We know the news cycle is moving fast these days and hope you've enjoyed the longer vids we put out last week. We'll be doing more of those videos as the topic suits it, the White House one in particular turned out well. We'll have another early video for you later this week too which is Australia focused.

Thank you all for your support,
The FJ Crew

My grandad was in the British Army as a Royal Signals Corps signalman and was watching from a mud wall with his mates when when Lord Mountbatten (Queen’s uncle) gave the Indians home rule.

Genuinely loving this series. And from a business model point of view has legs for quite a while... Unless you upset Burundi or some shit

Great video, but you're selling India a bit short on renewable energy at the end. India is actually making massive progress on electrifying their economy, and they're way ahead of where China was when they were at a similar level of economic development 10-20 years ago. I recommend reading this: https://ember-energy.org/latest-insights/indias-electrotech-fast-track-where-china-built-on-coal-india-is-building-on-sun/

I do like the Jumanji hats. I own four of them. they're great! Dunk them in water and they act like an air conditioner

I see you've managed to ragebait Taiwan as well, by showing them as part of the PRC. And mainland China too, by showing Taiwan as NOT part of the PRC in another bit. Top tier shitposting, guys. Also, aside from the raging nationalists, I think this video might also spark some replies from actual India economic nerds, who will have a list of positive things that they are doing, or other reasons why India is messed up.

Guessing this is why Manchesterism won’t work at a national level. The whole need to open up. Interesting video.

You ask where the money from India went? Well, a good chunk of it is in Fort Knox in the form of gold that the British gave to America to pay off lend-lease during WW2.

So I'm guessing no effort is going to be made for keeping Victoria red? Just let my state fail because it's not NSW?

Considering the resignation of Keir Starmer just now, I reckon another takedown of the U.K just like this one is about due lol

When studying an English degree last year I made what turned out to be one of the most controversial statements ever and got me branded 'the racist guy' for my last year. That statement was that the world, especially developing nations, must adopt a lingua franca and it should be either Mandarin or English. Abandoning your own language sounds insane, but almost all of the class and economic barriers Jordan has outlined here are easily resolved with a common language shared for a couple generations. Even today in the EU, most leaders speak fluent or passable English to engage with the CANZUK and USA nations whose economic weight collectively match them as a bloc. Languages are not a product of culture so much as economics and diplomacy. The fact that language studies was engrained into arts colleges throughout western universities in my view is a terrible mistake that has distabilised our hegemony that, with careful planning and changes, we can rectify. But the framing of a language as an art form and the elevation of it to 'endangered' is absurd. Languages come and go, they die out. Middle English is basically a different language entirely and Old English may as well be Welsh. In Japan, people who go to the Kabuki theatre have to listen with headphones translating the language as it was spoken as recently as 400 years ago. India need to either enforce a common non-local language (English) or they'll be trapped with self-imposed sanctions forever.

Thought provoking idea, although isn't India already the most English-proficient developing country? Maybe just in the cities
