My favourite interpretation of the way aliens might behave on Earth is the novel "Roadside Picnic" which likens aliens landing on Earth to people stopping for lunch on the side of the highway. Playing the radio, eating pre-prepared food using an esky, etc. and leaving behind their rubbish when they leave. All of these things are so inconceivably foreign to the local wildlife, but the presence of the wildlife was barely even acknowledged by the people as they came and went. I think if we were to be visited by aliens IRL the situation would be similar, because once you understand physics well enough that you can travel interstellar distances fast enough to go unnoticed until your already here there is basically nothing to learn from humanity.
