Current state of Diecast
Hey there, and thanks for checking out Diecast (formerly known as Forgeron)! This page should outline the features and systems currently supported in the app. The goal is to help you make an informed decision before trying the Alpha version out.
To find out the latest, please see the Changelog post. To join the Alpha release, please see this post.
If you'd like to stay up to date or provide feedback, please consider joining the Discord server.
This article was last updated May 28, 2026 for version 0.8.0 (Initiative).
Platforms
Currently, both iOS and Android support the same features to the same degree.
Foundry
Diecast is designed and tested on FoundryVTT version 13, always using the latest build. Earlier versions of Foundry may work as well, but are not officially supported. If you encounter issues on an older build, please report them in the Discord channel.
Hosting
Local and self-hosted work as expected. I have tested Molten Hosting and The Forge public games with no issues.
The Forge private games are not yet supported (as the login page prevents Diecast from talking to the Foundry game instance), but the team at The Forge is working on a solution.
Overall, if you can get to the Foundry join page with your mobile browser by just typing in the URL, you'll be able to connect just fine.
The one caveat is that because your phone most likely does not recognize self-signed certificates, you'll need to either disable SSL or get a certificate from a recognized certificate authority. You might also be able to set yourself up as a CA and get your phone to trust self-signed certificates.
Known issues
Using "Bold" or "Display size" system-wide accessibility options on Android results in clipped text across the app (reported by Azrael)
Very large worlds may crash the app on load on Android due to a memory overflow (reported by Azrael)✅ Fixed (0.8.0)Exporting your world may not work on some Android devices✅ Fixed (0.5.0)Server urls on Android cannot contain an underscore in the domain or subdomain
Supported
An incomplete list of currently built and working features. The app evolves very quickly as I build it, and this list becomes stale fairly often. Check release notes for latest details.

Not Planned for now
These features may not be implemented any time soon (if at all), mostly due to technical limitations or low value within Diecast.

If I purchase this do my players also need to purchase it?
Hey there! As of right now yes, though I'm actively working on a GM tier that would allow you to share a single sub for your whole party. Should be ready by the end of the month!
where would you like Bugs sent to?
Ideally in the discord channels, but otherwise I started a chat room in Patreon. Thank you!
Excellent. I wish you all the best for this
I asked on reddit about integration with molten, squyre, and forge. please keep us updated. and cheering for you. this is an amazing idea.
Thank you! I have been playing on Molten for a while so I know for a fact it works, and I was able to validate the Forge. Technically, any method of hosting should work as long as your phone can talk to the Foundry instance!
