General Updates
We set up at NRG Fest this weekend. The rain kept a lot of people home, but we ran a little mini finals on Cedric's Sampler track Friday night and people were screaming and cheering. A couple kids played for three hours straight on Saturday.
Going forward we're aiming for about one patch a week during the demo. Most of the feedback we're seeing is about performance and multiplayer lag, so that's the main focus right now.
Some recent fixes: Cedric revamped the Acrophobia trail based on your feedback, added a fix for wheels clipping through the ladder bridges, and cleaned up the background bushes so they don't look like big lime dots anymore.
Here's what we're focusing on this week.
Michael
Fixing the multiplayer lag. Right now every player is getting position updates for every other rider on the server, even ones way across the map. He's changing it so you only get updates for riders near you, which should take a lot of load off your computer.
Helping Bryan get crank collabs going again later in the week.
Maggie
Finishing up some customization fixes, like the Rad Dog t-shirt.
Cleaning up how rocks and roots are set up so they share the same materials. Less work for your graphics card, faster load times.
Fixing the distant trees that have been looking a little off.
Continuing environment upgrades. Ski lifts, the Rad Dog shop, forest floor, and drain textures.
Damien
Finishing the frame on the new Significant Other bike, hopefully by Friday or Monday.
Cedric
Hooking the old jump lines and connecting trails back into the revamped area.
Still asking riders what they like least so he can keep making the trails better. Keep the feedback coming.
Joe
Traveling for the first part of the week, then back in the project Wednesday.
Knocking out demo fixes: tightening up the gap between riders in finals mode, fixing some text alignment, and making sure the big leaderboard only shows up where it should.
Community management. Doing my best to read all comments and take notes on what we need to fix.
Bryan
Rolling out an outreach push to media and riding communities this week.
Working on collabs with bike shops.
That's the plan for this week. Mostly patches and performance work, no big feature drop.
Thank you all for playing the demo and giving us your honest feedback. Hope to see more of you out on the trails this week!
Lucy says hi.
