Blood & Bruises v3
Version 3 – Overview
This is the third version of my mod.
After many iterations of v2, I wanted to create something truly different rather than just another variation.
In this version, you’ll find:
Stronger bruise effects across the entire body (vanilla bruises made more dramatic and with added bruised areas)
Visible facial damage, including swollen eyes, small cuts, and natural blood drips on the nose and cheeks (tbh I think they're way better effect than v2 but you'll decide)
Blood on the chest but not extreme over the entire body (that's someone else target, and I already did something similar in V2 - LVL4. This one wants to be somehow realistic)
The idea behind the blood effect I tried to create is that, in the first stage—when it’s still semi-transparent—it should look like additional sweat, and then gradually turn into actual blood. It’s a transition I believe I’ve managed to achieve, but let me know what you think after some testing.
Important note:
I decided to release this version without any modification to the BloodDecalArray.dds file, because I wanted the focus to stay entirely on the bruise layers.
In most cases, the attention naturally goes to the blood spilling from the forehead when the head is damaged—but that’s not the purpose of this mod. That kind of detail comes from a single texture edit, while this project involves sixteen different maps, so I preferred to keep the two aspects separate.
So, if you use this mod alone, the blood from the forehead after critical damage will remain vanilla.
That said, it’s makes my mod fully compatible with any specific blood mod that doesn’t alter bruises—for example, the one from SMashZ’s Mods, which I strongly recommend.

Plus, I probably release some different stile of the BloodDecalArray.dds myself in he near future.
I'm open to any suggestion and request of personalized version (with some limits, I'll not make something complely different... base style will remain). No payment needed.
Installation:
Just put the .cak file in your mods folder in the gam’s directory.

Which mod do you suggest for something has maybe less blood but alot more bruising like black eyes and such. I find the blood sometimes obscures the bruises so i want an in between. I've been using all your mods and switching it up ever so often, i like them all... just wondering which one has the most gnarly bruises and facial damages
I’d say v3 for sure, because the blood makes sense given the damage the face and chest take. The rest of the body has only increased bruising. Would you prefer less blood on the chest, or less blood overall (including the face)?
The mod is loaded but it dosent seem to be working.. does it work in the carrer mode too ?
It should work everywhere the normal bruises appear, since my mod replaces them. I have to admit I only started but never finished Career Mode myself, and when I played it (months ago, before I made the mod) I didn’t really pay attention to bruises. So, if the normal bruises show up in Career Mode, then mine should as well. Do you have any other mods installed in your Career save? Sometimes bruises don’t show up on modded characters if their creator didn’t implement the visual damage effects properly — some authors forget that, so those characters won’t show any bruises at all (not even the base game ones). Could you check if the bruises appear in single matches using the default base-game characters? That’ll help figure out.
hey, just thought i'd say this, this seems to cause an issue where it crashes my game not even seconds after it tries to load up (it goes to the black screen before the copyright stuff and just crashes)
Are you completely sure the issue is caused by my mod? I’ve tested it myself, and a few other people have tested it as well — nobody reported anything similar so far. Is it possible there’s a bug in someone else mod or a conflict with another mod? Does the freeze happen 100% of the time on startup? If you remove only my mod, does the game always start correctly afterward? I don’t mean to dismiss your report, but I honestly doubt the problem originates from my files. I would consider it more likely if the freeze occurred when loading into a match — that’s usually when character model issues or wrong renders trigger a crash. But freezing immediately when entering the game is not consistent with what my mod modifies under the hood. I’m using it myself and never froze once.
