Seaton's Aunt, Page 7
My other major model for country houses is Stan Hywet, the Tudor-style mansion in Akron, Ohio that one of the founders of Goodyear built with his tire fortune. I visited it a lot growing up for holiday fairs and summer Shakespeare productions. The actual Charles Goodyear had nothing to do with the Goodyear company and died in massive debt after rich jerks stole his patent for vulcanized rubber.
Anyway, enjoy these lovely grounds! The tadpoles are in the original story but also express my feeling that the tadpole animation in My Neighbor Totoro is kind of unsettling.

Who wouldn't want to catch tadpoles! (I don't remember the Totoro reference. I wonder which streaming service has it. I'm sick and wouldn't mind re-watching it.)
Goodyear was from my home town of Naugatuck, CT, which became a center for tire and footwear manufacture until rich jerks sent all the work overseas.
