New video in 3D: Wormholes
This the 3D version of my latest video. You can watch it if you have VR headset or 3D monitor/3D TV.
I will upload first 30s of this video on DeoVR to watch for free as a demo for someone who doesn't know do they want to buy it or not. But I will do this the day the video officially comes out on YouTube.
The first file is EN_3D_4K.mp4. It's 4K 60fps, so the resolution is 7680x2160. I only recommend this file if you have something like the Bigscreen Beyond or Apple Vision Pro, meaning headsets with very high resolution. On something like the Quest 3, this video will most likely lag, and the screen resolution isn't high enough to see a difference from the 1080p version. I tested it on my own Quest 3.
The second file is EN_3D_1080p.mp4. It's a 1080p 60fps file, so its resolution is 3840x1080. I recommend this file if you have a standard headset like the Oculus Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, or Steam Frame.
How to watch these videos: I recommend a player called Play'a (https://playavr.com/). It's free and works pretty well. Its controls are clunky, but what can you do. If you know of a better player, let me know and I'll update the post. I haven't found a better free one. When you open the video, select side-by-side (SBS) in the settings at the bottom. Hide the menu and enjoy the 3D video.
The video is rendered to take up 70° of your horizontal field of view at a screen distance of 1 m. But 70° is too much, so I recommend sizing the screen to about 45°. That's roughly like your monitor in front of you, or a movie theater screen seen from a center seat (also about 45°), so you can see the whole screen without turning your head. The screen also needs to be in front of you at some distance, and the closer to 1.0–1.5 m, the better. In the DeoVR player, I noticed the screen is placed at infinite distance (and this can't be adjusted), which is uncomfortable to watch, because my rendering method targets a virtual screen close to you (Off-Axis). So I don't recommend DeoVR as a player. For the same reason, watching the video in a virtual cinema, where the screen is far away from you, will probably also be uncomfortable.
If you watch this video, please leave a comment! Tell me whatever you think, even if you didn't like it. I want any feedback at all, since nobody has made a 3D video like this before.
