Hello!

It's been a few weeks since we launched the Academy section. We would like to know what you think of it so far and what topics you would like to cover in the future in order to prepare them for the future. Also the whole team wants to thank you for the reception it is having, it makes us very excited to carry out this project that we had in mind for almost a year.

Thank you very much to all of you!

It would be nice with a new & updatede video on larger jade stone items. Like a shield, example like the original Gor-Rok shield with strukturs with in. And how to represent crystal/gem Stones more realistic And a huge thanks for all the awesome videos. You are truly an amazing artist!

Hi Sergio, I would like a more in depth video on the way you use the airbrush to blend colours and get smooth gradients, I know you touch on it in many of your videos, but I would love a lesson dedicated to colour selection for blending and also when to use inks or paints etc.

Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

Yes, we have also planned to publish this video in the next few weeks.

Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

Hola!

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

I would love to see a breakdown of how you handle lighting on figures. I remember one of your workshops you saying you do a cylinder of light in the middle but I can’t seem to grasp that. Too used to directional Rembrandt lighting

Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 29, 2025

Hello! We are preparing a slightly different video to explain precisely those kinds of concepts. It will be published in a few weeks. I will explain it using an example thumbnail and using Photoshop so you can understand it in a more visual way.

Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 25, 2025

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 25, 2025

Hi, I would love to see you tackle the following topics (this turned into a very long list 😅): - Dilution of paint for different purposes - Types of paint you use and why (acrylic, airbrush, inks, oil, washes etc) - Different mediums you use as well as eg varnishes - handling of paint and light placement - giving form to the mini, basics on rendering the figure - Blending (using different techniques, what works where and when?) - Painting Skin and faces including eyes - Color theory and mixing - How to approach a mini regarding colour scheme, saturation, values etc - How to approach a mini regarding composition of the figure and base - How to pint different kinds of materials, ie skin, textiles, leather, different kinds of steel, fire, stone, wood, bone, fur etc etc - Different techniques and methods for assembling a base

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 25, 2025

I will write down all the topics you have mentioned and pass them on to Vanessa and the team of editors so they can start preparing them. For now we intend to publish this section once a week, so at the beginning the videos will probably be very basic but my idea is to increase the difficulty.

H
Henry Nguyen · April 24, 2025

Hey Sergio its Henry from your workshop. I think what would be beneficial is an in-depth video on how you do your colour theory. Basically an outline of how you choose your base colour followed by your cap and the temperature colour you use as a control and to maintain saturation. Cheers Sergio!!!

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 25, 2025

It seems to me a very good idea to explain it in a video (or in several, if it is too long). I'm going to pass your idea to Vane and the editors to prepare it.

Point · April 24, 2025

Hello, thank you very much for all those videos. For a video topic, I would be very interested about an airbrush video, how you change between colors, how you clean it, equipments and others. As a beginner in airbrush, it would help me a lot. Thank you very much and keep going the same

S
Sergio Calvo Miniatures · April 25, 2025

Hello! Yes, we are preparing that video (as well as the one about the workbench) and it will be released in the next few weeks.

Thank you very much for being here and supporting my painting work and the work of my editors (we must not forget that without them this project would be impossible).
