Devlog R.E.D 0.2 # 2

Hello everyone! As you can see, today's post is a Devlog, not the usual weekly progress update. To be honest, the game hasn't progressed much from where it was, so I didn't really have much progress to show this week. Sorry about that, so I decided to post a Devlog instead.

I also have a funny story to tell you. Last week, I said, “This is probably going to be a tough week.” I said that because I thought the action scene I was working on was going to require a lot of brainpower, trying to figure out how to make it work.

But apparently, life had a different idea. 😂

The very next day, I got sick with a fever and a cold. Then later that night, I went to sleep and didn't get any work done at all. 😂 But don't worry, I was feeling better two days later.

And, well... as you can see, the game didn't progress as much as I had planned.

Oh, and since this is a Devlog, I have a question I'd really like to hear your thoughts on.

Do you like it when characters have their thoughts displayed as text?

For example, in 0.1, my protagonist often had a lot of inner thoughts. In contrast, I barely included any of that in 0.2—I'd say there are almost none.

So what do you guys think?

Would you rather have the main character's thoughts displayed as text, have no inner thoughts at all, or have them appear only occasionally?

Which style do you prefer?

Inner thoughts are only good in moderation, too much inner monologue really gets annoying

Nah. Without inner thoughts you just have the usual gutted anime instead of a proper book. What characters say and what characters do are often 2 different things. While for other characters is a fair game. If you have to guess motives and actual opinions of MC its a problem. Unless Mc is not a reliable narrator who hides info from reader as well. Another way that 99% of people do it to make MC either be cliche dumb clown or make him talk to himself openly. Both ways are cringe

Make sure you take care of your health Rabbit, life happens and you can't help it sometimes. which style do I prefer? hmm. I'll keep it short here (maybe I'll answer more on the forum hehe) but you're very good at not having too much inner thoughts for the protagonist. You can tell the story and meaning without having to have the protagonist's inner thoughts explain everything for the player. Example, when Blu shows up in the club, the protagonist doesn't have a bunch of inner thoughts. He has one I think "what is blu doing here?" and then nothing else is necessary. The reader understands what the MC is thinking without having to hear him think it. Rare inner thoughts are good. I think your newest work is perfect for that.

Thanks! I'm currently going through the 0.2 script again and looking for places where I can add more dialogue.
