Christopher Nolan has ruined my life + welcome to all the new people
Hello hello, it's update time once again, and this update is a very neat and cool one.
There is now 1000 people here on the patreon, which is extremely cool to see. I'm thankful enough people cared about my shit on youtube to want to go to an entirely other website to support my extra random garbage, and even give me money in some cases! extra special thanks to those people. times are tough out there so i in no way do i expect anyone to to that, but the small but mighty donations that combine from you guys legitimately mean a lot and help me in making my work better and better.
My last video in particular, the goth girls one, was received so much better than i expected it would and led to the biggest jump in patreoners and youtube subscribers i've seen literally every in my history of doing this. like a 33% boost in people who followed my stuff everywhere from just that video alone, which blows my mind.
as such, instead of doing the smart thing which is to make another video about a weird internet phenomenon to keep the momentum going in that niche, i'm making a video about christopher nolan movies instead. he's kind of become a weird internet phenomenon right? right?????
i've always tried to position myself as someone who talks about a variety of different things, and i have spoken on media before, but this time i wasn't to try focusing my political any analytical lens around specifically media instead of an internet phenomenon around it. that comes up, but it's not necessarily core to it.
the odyssey kind of bothered me so much, i se out to figure out why. i have now rewatched every single christopher nolan movie with a newer, wiser, and older lens since the last time i saw most of them were 10+ years ago. i have also read a lot of interviews and perspectives on not just his movies but the reception to his movies. in traditional christopher nolan fashion, this video i'm writing plays with time and perception, and it's been a lot of fun to compare how i viewed his movies when i was an apolitical 18 year old to my very woke 33 year old self.
i see this as a fun experiment to push myself, and my content, and hopefully what people can come to expect from me. i look up to people like jacob geller who, for example, can make videos about basically anything with the right framework and i want to do the same. because hold FUCK listening to people talk about not just the odyssey but nolan himself has made me go crazy and SOMEONE needs to bring this down to earth and bring some real film and political analysis to the situation. so that's gonna be me.
my goal is to get this bad boy done by the end of october or early november, but i am planning on moving around then so we will see what happens. ideally i want it out the door before i am out my current door and into another one. may the editing gods be kind to me.
thank you all very much for being here, including my dad who now knows i have this weird hobby. hello dad.
catch you guys in the next one
