Weekly Update

As I mentioned in the last devlog, this week I was going to visit my family, and that's exactly what I did! I traveled on Thursday, and I'm still here. I'll be back home either tomorrow night or Tuesday morning.

Honestly, there isn't a huge amount to report this week, so I'm kind of improvising here 😅

Before traveling, I kept working on pretty much the same things I mentioned last time: creating new environments for future scenes, working on the script, and making adjustments to the map that will appear in Chapter 4. I think the map is finally ready! I also worked on some new characters for the chapter. They still need a bit more work, but they are looking good so far.

I don't want to talk too much about Chapter 4 just yet, since Chapter 3 hasn't been released to the public yet. That should happen sometime next week, most likely Wednesday. Excited for that :D

September has mostly been about releasing Chapter 3, making fixes, and getting the technical stuff ready for Chapter 4 before I start rendering. That'll continue to be my focus for the rest of September tbh.

I've also been struggling a little with Chapter 4's script. My brain has been pretty foggy lately, and I think part of the problem is that I have so many ideas for this chapter that I'm having trouble deciding where to draw the line. Some would take too long to explore properly, others are difficult to fit into the story, and some still aren't clear enough.

Trying to balance story progression, character development, and NSFW content within a chapter of around 2000 renders is freaking difficult. Those of you who followed Chapter 3's development might remember me mentioning that I had to cut quite a bit from the script to keep development within that six month window. Chapter 4 is a little trickier, the cast has grown, more characters are coming, and there's a lot I want to do with them. Finding room for everything has been a challenge. But it's okay, I'll figure it out.

Back to Chapter 3: I made some fixes and adjustments this morning, and I really recommend downloading this updated version. This is the super mega extreme final version 😂 It will remain unchanged until Chapter 4 releases, so this is the one I'd recommend keeping.

The changes include adjustments to sound effects, dialogue, and music across all chapters. Probably the most noticeable addition is a little main menu "Easter egg". The original song is still there, but if you stay in the menu for one minute after it finishes, an alternative, more rock-oriented version will start playing. Once that version ends, the original song returns and loops as usual.

I also edited and slightly extended "Almost Gone," the song that plays when the characters arrive at the gas station, and changed the music that plays when the group is in the house after Paige jokes about the Warrens being serial killers.

There are a few other fixes here and there, too. Your existing saves will still work, so don't worry about losing your progress.

(If you're on Android and already have the launcher, there's no need to download it again. Just use the launcher you already have to get the updated version.)

And yeah, that's pretty much it for this week! Chapter 3 should be available for free next week, and I'm looking forward to more of you getting to play it 😀
