Development Update #17 - Chapter 3

This week I made it to 1900 renders, woohooo!

By next week I'll definitely hit 2000 renders, which is honestly crazy for me. I started developing Chapter 3 back in March, so reaching 2000 renders in four months is an absolute record for me

Right now I'm working on the ending, which is one big sequence made up of lots of smaller scenes. My goal is to officially finish the rendering phase by the middle of July. Chapter 3 will oficially surpass the 2000 render mark.

I mean... technically, the chapter is already over 2000 renders, but I don't count my... hmm... "immersion renders" in the official count. They're basically still renders that have little moving elements. I guess you could call them animations... but umm, not really though. "Animation" makes it sound way more impressive than it actually is. It's just little things like trees moving with the wind to make scenes feel more alive. They're basically "cheating renders" that increase the render count but don't actually make progress on the story, so I don't count them.

Anyways... this is what's left, more or less:

The rendering phase will end around the middle of July.

After all the renders are done, I'll do the render correction phase. You know, tweaking the gamma/colors on any renders that need it. I don't think this part is gonna take me long at all, probably just 1 or 2 nights of work at most. Only the first quarter of the renders need some gamma correction.

After that I jump straight into coding, the most tedious part, but also the easiest. I'l say 2 weeks of coding

After that comes adding all the music and SFX, which will probably take another 2 weeks.

Then I'll finally play the chapter for the first time, see how it feels, and if everything feels right, release dates will follow.

There's still work to be done, but we're getting really close.
