Hello everyone! TruckSim GPS v1.4.0 is now ready to download on Google Play and Apple App Store.

This is a big update. PC Telemetry 2.0.0 has a new way to connect which should make setup a lot simpler by just scanning a QR code. Many of you installed the app, tried to connect, and the phone never found the PC, because the home Wi-Fi didn't let the two talk to each other. We're introducing a new Relay Server infrastructure on our side to fix these scenarios. This fixes the connection on the Wi-Fi setups that failed before, and it even works on mobile data. If you gave up on the app because of this, please give it another try.

Voice navigation is here too! We have 10 voices to pick from in 12 different languages, + voice customization with different voice effects to get a unique voice tuned the way you want. The voice can play on your phone or on your PC speakers.

We've also managed to fix the long-standing issue where we couldn't show the route to the job-begin location. With no job running, now the app routes you to the pickup of the job you selected, or to the destination you set in the game's GPS.

• Connect with a QR code: link your phone to your PC by scanning a QR code, and keep the connection even when the phone isn't on the same Wi-Fi as the PC, for example on mobile data

• Voice navigation: spoken turn-by-turn directions in 12 languages, with 10 voices to choose from

• Halloween event: Brackenreach now appears on the map with its roads and Castle Brackenhelm, and event jobs get a route to the portal you pick in the game.

• PC Telemetry 2.0.0:

  • New name: TruckSim GPS Telemetry Server is now simply called PC Telemetry

• Fixed automatic detection of some mods when the game runs as administrator

• Fixed some situations where your account could get signed out unexpectedly and you had to sign in again

• Better merge detection: when your lane joins traffic, the turn panel shows a merge arrow and the voice tells you which side the traffic is on

New connection architecture

Until now, the app found your PC by looking for it on your home Wi-Fi. A lot of home routers and modems, some of them from your ISP, don't let devices on the same Wi-Fi see each other, so for many of you the app never connected, no matter which IP you typed.

In 1.4.0 the phone links to the PC once, using a QR code.

After that, the phone remembers your PC. It tries your Wi-Fi first, and when that doesn't work it sends the telemetry over the internet through our new relay servers, so it also works on mobile data or when your phone is on another network. Over the internet the truck position may lag a little. The app shows the connection as Indirect then, but it should work well enough.

We're deploying two relay servers, one in the USA and another one in Europe, to reduce latency for those of you who will be using them.

Voice navigation

Finally! Voice nav is now part of TruckSim GPS :)

Pick one of 10 voices, each one with its own personality. Each one is also available in 12 different languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Dutch, Czech, Italian and Hebrew.

You can use Voice Effects to add Mic sounds before and after each phrase (like radio clicks), and customize the way the voices sound. Each effect has its own sliders so you can customize the voices further, creating unique combinations of your own.

During the development of voice nav, many of you asked for it to work through the PC speakers. You can switch between mobile/PC audio output, and also set the audio volume directly from Voice Settings inside the app.

Of course you can turn voice nav off if you prefer, or pick Essential so the amount of chatter is reduced to a minimum.

Free users can use the default voice without effects. All the voices and voice effects are unlocked for Pro users.

Routes before the job starts

We had a long-standing limitation where we couldn't show you the route to the job-begin position, or to your own waypoints in the game's GPS, or to the new Road Trip DLC Atlas positions. The game's telemetry doesn't include these positions.

We've implemented a new method that now allows us to read this information, and sync the app accordingly.

With no job running, the app routes you to the pickup of the job you selected in the game. If you set a waypoint in the game's GPS instead (a map pin, or an Atlas stop in ATS car mode), the app takes you there.

Real or game distances on the turn panel

We had some requests to make the turn-directions panel use real-scale distances, while keeping the rest of the distances in the app in simulator-scale. This is now possible, and you can switch the scale of the turn-directions panel by tapping on it.

The new default is to use real-scale for the turn-directions panel, since that feels a lot better for the spoken navigation.

What's next?

This was quite a big update! We want to ship at least one last major update before the end of the year. Right now the focus is on Multiplayer features.

We're still researching what's possible, but we will have something ready soon :)
