Wildflowers (again)
Hello! March rewards are out, thank you for your patience. I also included this piece that I went back and repainted when I felt better. It's kind of nuts how my emotional state changes how my art turns out T_T
This year marks the 10th year since I started this project. 2016 was when my body started showing signs of shutting down, for reasons I couldn't understand at the time. I was still living with family at the time, and when I'd go out on jogs I'd have to stop suddenly because it felt like my heart was giving out. I'd wake up from my sleep gasping for air because I wasn't breathing right. I moved out later that year and I spent the next few years undergoing severe mental and physical decline, to my horror and confusion. AWC was the thing that gently guided me along that darkness and showed me who I was in a world I couldn't make sense of.
And this 10th year I am coming to realize my actual story, and the real insidious nature behind my trauma and resulting illness. I was brainwashed to love at my expense, and to question my judgment and self-preserving instincts, always. That belief was compounded and reinforced by the societal and religious narratives that I was supposed to Acquiesce to be a good person. AWC re-introduced me to the pieces of myself that had been buried under these wretched lies, and I share this project with the hope that people will learn to love themselves the way they deserve to. Thank you for being here to witness my journey.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to witness it. It involved a lot of pain, but it sounds like you've grown a lot, and for whatever it's worth, what you've created is beautiful. Your art is stunning and raw in a way I can't quite put into words. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, I'm happy to hear it's brought you to a better place. The world can be a surprisingly cruel place, so you should love yourself the way you deserve, too.
thank you Stephen! Sometimes I wonder if it's TMI to talk about how personal it is but I also enjoy following a story that means something to the artist, especially in this day and age. I really appreciate your kind reception and support 🤍
