WE WON THE LAND! Step 1 of Off-Grid Farm House (Full Tour!)

Well… this is a title we’ve been dreaming of posting for a while now.

Come tour our wild block of land with Riles and I (and a few too many spiders), as we await what feels like some of the most important news we’ve received in a long time yeeeew! 🥹

Join us this week as Axel and Lydia come to visit, and we give you guys our full, unfiltered thoughts on what we might actually be getting ourselves into… the dream, the doubts, the reality of residency, and what it could really mean to start building an off-grid life here in Vanuatu.

And because it wouldn’t be us without a little ocean magic, as we head out to dive Vanuatu for the very first time, we're met by one very cool local pod of dolphins.

We could never have imagined this chapter when we set sail all those years ago, and truly, none of it would be possible without your support.

Join us in the comments - we’d love to know what you think!

Love,
Elay, Riley, Lenny & Darwin

This is a really great episode ! The way the realtor depressed your happiness and joy, telling you to be almost happy, was so frustrating, as I expected to see you express your happiness much more than you allowed yourselves to. Nevertheless, I love this chapter of your lives, and all of you guys, and it's great that Axel and Lidya joined.

Hey guys, great to see you secured the property. I noticed you’re already working with architects, but I’d be remiss not to share a few thoughts on approach and style. If I were you, I’d spend at least six months living on the property full-time before locking in any major design decisions. That gives you a real understanding of the land and how you want to lay everything out. One strategy to consider is building a guest house first. It gets you on-site quickly and gives you a base to operate from while you refine the larger vision. You should also think seriously about whether a Spanish-style design—like Aaron Paul’s house—actually fits the area. Do you want the architecture to stand out and dominate, or blend naturally with the environment situation. Lastly, I’d recommend checking out Arvin Haddad’s channel on YouTube. His island-focused content is useful for understanding what works, what doesn’t, and what to watch out for. I guarantee you, you will get a lot of inspiration from it as well. Love the content, keep it up ya'll.

I've had a few drinks now so, also make sure you build the BBQ/outdoor kitchen hangout area off the ledge looking at the waterfall so it's a communal area for everyone to enjoy when you have guest, as well as a getaway when you have guest. Pitter-patter get at her there buds

So beautiful!!! So happy for you all!! BTW. You both would be considered married, you've been together since you were how old Alanha. And Riles. Two kids later!!! Why not get married. Better for everyone.. in my humble opinion. Bohemian wedding at your new home. Would be beautiful for a beautiful couple!!

Hey crew, I have never been to Vanuatu, so before anyone else jumps in, can I please reserve the very first month of your future Airbnb on your new property? Please please book me in now. As with any new construction, it will be delayed and over the budget so I am OK to just pinch a tent in a yard somewhere and get eaten by spiders and mosquitos to oblivion so there will be nothing left of me in the morning. LOL Another one bits the dust. If I do survive the night one, I will be sure to bring my PADI advanced open water diver cert and some very very first SLV merch you had back in the day including a pic you sent me with a note for re-certification and re-signage. You probably do not even remember what it is. Well, I got you, you'll see, you know just for "ships and giggles". Deal? Oh, Riley, I can show you how to use a chainsaw. And of course, congrats on getting the land you hoped for. I know the feeling. Cheers... :) Vlad

Absolutely awesome. Personally I would go with a little bigger home and less land (so much land!) but I know you will do GREAT things with it! You might want to consider scaler wave technology necklaces (https://holisticbugrepellent.com/page/Bug-Repellent-Home.html) that would really be given the test against those mosquitos and bugs, to help your body resist being bitten to death. I have no connection to that company except I hear great things and I am trying it out myself. No one needs ticks and mosquitos if it can be helped.
