7 days at Sea to find THIS! (Raw, Unfiltered cut)
This might just be one of our most incredible passages yet - a 600 nautical mile sail from Osaka to the Bonin Islands (also known as the Ogasawara Islands), way out in the remote Pacific!
Join us this week for crystal-clear bluewater days as we sail towards a hotspot for humpback whales. Meet our new crew as they take on their very first voyage aboard La Vagabonde... learning the ropes, handling the sails, and diving headfirst into the offshore life!
Patreon supporters like you make voyages like this possible. Thank you so much for being part of our journey. We hope you enjoy this early (ad free) preview of this week’s episode!
Let us know in the comments what you're excited for us to check out while we're here in the remote Pacific! Yeewww!! 🫶

Snickerdoodle!
Just found this beautiful episode! I love watching as the individuals become a family… you all find a place in the family where you shine and you each recognize what is being brought to share ! Loved this long episode.
Here's a snicker, there's a doodle, snickerdoodle, all the day along.
Team snickerdoodle
team snickerdoodle!
Snickerdoodle. Thanks for the great episode. It looks like you’re having great fun. I can’t wait for the next episode!
Hi guys you talk about the weight of the boat and how you were extremely worried about that. What I don’t understand is; what the difference or effect would be between the actual 11.8t has to 14t that was what you were hoping it wasn’t?? I understand it would sail slower is that all??

Amazing footage so many fantastic sequences
That was amazing I am so jealous, it has always been a bucket list item for me to see Whales up close but to spend days with a Mother and her Calf underwater I hope you realize how lucky you are . And the other thing to see the pride in Rileys face and hear it in his voice for Lenny . These are the moments we live for . My favorite video of yours or anyones, Well done guys. It brought me to tears.
Thanks so much Lloyd 🥹 I really hope you get a chance to swim with them someday soon!
Great episode, great music.. beautiful, thank you for sharing.
A six-year-old autopilot with natural intuition. In the clip, I can see the wave approaching the stern and Lenny could feel it, turning the helm to take advantage. You're right, Riles. A lot of long-time sailors never reach that level of perception and oneness.
snickerdoodle. skitz episode ya legends. hope yous enjoy the warmer weather. cheers mates. working on my Australian, they don't teach it on duolingo haha
😂😂
Snickerdoodle :) So many impulses and impressions in this new ep. Enjoying every bit of it. Makes you feel dreamy and comfy.
🤣😆😂 Does this mean I need to put snickerdoodle in my response or was it stickerdoodle… Bob and I are absolutely blown away by Lenny. I am particularly impressed because I was always over correcting whenever I was on the helm. Bravo Lenny!😍 Keep up the good work! We love you and your crew.
Snickerdoodle. You had it right the first time hahaha 🧡🫶
Snickerdoodle! Wow! What money shots you got with the whales. We see them in the summer in Washington and British Columbia. We saw them last year in desolation sound. One was swimming beside our 46 ft monohull. It was so beautiful. Lenny is becoming quite the sailor. He feels the boat because it is all he knows. Darwin is adorable. Live watching his little sense of humor! Keep it up guys.
SNICKERDOODLE!!! OMG, the sweetest episode ever. I’ve been watching you since day 1 and I’m blown away. There are no words, but you are a most beautiful family and community. Thank you, thank you, thank you for including us and letting us share the experience.
Snickerdoodle! I felt the same pride watching Lenny. He’s a natural. I have a friend whose family sailed around the world when he was you. Now he is a boat Captain and sells all kinds of boats and yachts but sailing is his true love. It make me think of Lenny as a grown man loving this lifestyle and passing it on to his children! 😍
Oh my heart guys!!!! What a stunning video you all put together…. Cannot praise you guys enough for the sensational quality and mix of entertainment, wisdom, humor and needless to say… emotion! Never stop being the awesome people you are and golly Lenny!!! 🤯 cannot wait to see this lil fellas life unfold!! Loads of love and best wishes of safety, fun, happiness and wellbeing to you all!! Eagerly anticipating the next masterpiece! X ….. snickerdoodle…. 💖
SNICKERDOODLE ... Another wonderful video. When your videos come up, i put it on the biggest screen I have and enjoy every second. Looks like the overcrowding is working out great. What a beautiful segment on Lenny and his taking to sailing. I think this has been developing for a while and you guys are obviously so proud. Especially Riles. Love you all.
❤ GR8 VID ~ LOVED IT ❤ had to watch 3 times, it was so good !!!
What a trip! Good on ya. All ya'll. Lenny has a gift. Loved the whale vids and info on the males songs. Thanxz!
Snickerdoodle.More whales
Sooo…many…magical moments. From the father/son encounter to the “song of the whales”. What a beautiful film.
Snickerdoodle. Yay Lenny! I could just see him at age 13, 15, 17, 21 with his own boat and his proud dad looking on. Wonderful video Elayna as usual! My memories of living on Maui back in the 90's and hearing those whale sounds were brought back. So wonderful.
Squeeeeee!!!! Whales at sea, for me! Yes please, with a cup of tea! We just had the Procession of the Species parade here where we all dressed up as animals and paraded through town, non motorized (there were whales).
Heart officially, completely melted with Lenny at the helm and you guys being the proudest parents ever, it really really touched me.
Amazing video as always, I have been a fan since your very early days and this really takes me back to the magic of your first videos in super remote places. As a conservation biologist and massive whale enthusiast, swimming with whales is a huge dream of mine but obviously I would want to do it in the most responsible way possible. I am interested if you were aware of the World Cetacean Alliance guidelines on swimming with whales (I will link it below)? They state that you shouldn't swim if a calf is present or with SCUBA gear as this can be very disturbing for them, so I was wondering if you had some sort of special permit/licence/training for this? If so I'd love more details as would so love to do this myself! https://worldcetaceanalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/WCA-Global-Best-Practice-Guidance-Whale-Watch.pdf
Random question: I've noticed the humming resonance from the boat when you get to higher speeds/surfing conditions. Is this as loud for you all as it sounds on the audio? Do you get used to it/is it a nice noise or do you find it annoying? Is this an intentional design or just a curiosity of the hull? Interested minds... :) I feel like you guys mentioned it off hand a while back but I couldn't remember if you did or the answer. Love the video, as usual. Snickerdoodle!
The video was just amazing. Here I am thousands of miles away south of Seattle, Washington (Tacoma) and so often while watching I get this huge smile on my face. Watching your joy brings joy to me as well. I thank you all and wish you well. Fair winds be with ye!!!
Snickerdoodle. Looks like you got the drones figured out?
Snickerdoodle ♥️
I’m stunned !! This episode is sooo epic! I watched in my big ass TV in the lounge as opposed to my iPad and to see Lenny at the helm and to get a sense of the vastness of the ocean you’re traversing just boggled my mind!!! So in awe of the life you’re living !!! Can’t wait to see more ♥️much love to you all xx
Aww thanks Lisha 🫶🧡 much love from us! xx
The whale footage is absolutely amazing! And the cinematography of it all- just chefs kiss 🐋😍
Snickerdoodle
Oh my! Cannot wait to watch tonight. I am so excited for you all. Just laughed out loud and showed hubby.
PS, Elay, I went over to the IXL website to take a look at the science. I left you a longer message back on your post about Lenny needing a new tutor.
Snickerdoodle: Lenny is amazing six years old, and steering the boat like a veteran. How long before he takes over as captain of the boat? It's great to see the new crew all bonding so well and learning how to crew the boat so quickly. The whales were super awesome.
Tears honestly, before Riley even started to talk about Lenny helming, I could see Lenny's concentration, how active he was with the corrections, and the emotion filling up Riley's face. I'm an educator and witnessing my student's accomplishments just floats my boat. Your boy is remarkable. His entire life has been taking in the sensations of wind, water, and the dance of the vessel. Now he's integrating it all together and using it. I'm watching quietly in the Vermont mountains overflowing with pride (and tears) for his growth. You have to be bursting with it. I know there are many reasons to decide to not share the kiddos' stories and I'm grateful that you feel Lenny and Darwin's safety and well being are solid and that you're able to share them, thank you. (Snickerdoodle)
Wowo! Aloha from Maui.
