Plans Shattered. What do we do now?

Finally, we’re ready to share an insight into the aftermath of the most harrowing experience of our lives.

We’re going to discuss the ramifications of this event both structurally for the vessel and emotionally for our crew, especially for our three and five year old kids who were both onboard.

We hope you enjoy this early preview which sheds some light on our ordeal. As always, thanks for all your support, at times like these it means even more to us.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on how we should best move forward. All advice is appreciated…

With love,

Riley, Elay, Lenny & Darwin

xx

I loved this update. I appreciate you taking the time to keep us informed and your resilience and positivity during such a testing time for the whole family. It's good to hear that while the boat has been damaged, it can be repaired, and you can get back in the water again and continue with your amazing travels.

I gotta feel for you guys. While not the same, this reminds me of being in a severe car accident that was not in any way my fault. Sometimes shit happens The difference is what you do with what happened. Playing the what if game never achieves anything. For me, it's a trusted councillor (Kinesiologist) that I only found later in life (I'm 60 now) I was a kid at the time and I carry the physical scars on my face. It's the non physical scars that needed real healing. Just know, that kids are incredibly resilient. As adults though, it's incumbent on us to encourage the resilience of our kids. And we can't fool them because our vibrational energy will always speak louder than our words. So, I chose to get my trauma healed so that my words in supporting my kids aligned with my own healing. Remember to always be in the now. If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present. Lao Tzu Remember what the flight stewards say when flying "should there be a loss in cabin pressure, put your mask on before helping your children" You cant help your children if you are incapacitated yourself. Be well Elayna and Reily.

Tho I have watched your videos I don’t believe I commented on anything because of personal issues taking my energy. I am truly relieved to hear you are all well and safe. Plus it looks like you are making good progress on heading for needed repairs. I am glad you are feeling love and support from all of us who have been thru so many adventures and exploits with you… know that we are always here for you. You mentioned something about losing a sponsor ? Not enough likes for your posts? Are fewer people watching? Are they following you on Sea People instead? I’m not sure how all of this works, do I need to increase my support money? Please advise.

Thanks for the update. I am continuing to feel bad for you. So glad, though, that you made it to Yuge. It is one of my favorite ports in Japan; I have been to over 70 of them. I chuffed, too, that you met Daniel Springett at Yuge of @seajapan. You asked for advice on the video . . let me speak as a parent of two boys and also one involved in accidents . . the shock will wear off, and your boys will be more muscular for it. Don`t give up on living on the water. if there are other reasons to stop, do what you have to do, but keep going for the boys. Good luck with the repairs.

Thanks for the update! Glad you can still sail and that insurance payments look positive!

Your video was moving, to say the least. Witnessing your wonderful mini universe full of joy, dreams, and love shattered by must-have-been negligence brings deep anger. Supposedly, the Japanese are acting with the utmost respect—the least they could do—perhaps they are as distraught as you are. May Eole provide you with fair winds for 2025—your boys are pure joy!

The update we have been waiting for. Thank you. I am so relieved things are working out and how you all are coping with the accident and aftermath. Stay strong and we are all with you. You will look back on this one day as you get older and it will feel like a hiccup in your total journey.

Glad the damage is fairly superficial by the sounds of things. Hopefully the repairs don’t take too long and you guys can still make it to Tokyo for the concert and the ski season.
