What Lurks Beneath…

This is Sandopolis Zone from Sonic 3. This is stage 9—and by far the worst level in the damn game. Nobody likes this map. Like, at all. And that’s okay, but it still sucks. This level is an ancient Egyptian-like desert that runs from quicksand to pyramids. After the crash from Flying Battery, Blaze and the brat find themselves in a buried kingdom of sand and stone… now drowned in oil.

This ol’ ancient desert has been industrialized. Industrialization has taken over. Black residue from the oil trails has stained the ruins. Black slicks have filled the old temple pits while pipes cut through the hieroglyph-covered walls. The air is thick and the entire desert smells like shit, unfortunately. You don’t just sink in quicksand here, you sink in oil. 😬😬

Blaze’s flames are a danger here and Super forms are off limits. Stay sharp, watch for traps, and don’t let Cream fall behind. Clear the outdoor dunes in Act 1, then press onward to the pyramid temples.

That’s the desert. That’s how it starts.
