Hey everyone!

As promised, here is the free version of the skin refiner workflow discussed in our most recent video!

As always, feel free to reach out if there are any questions or suggestions!

Running the workflow (same as previous paid post):

Workflow Requirements/Set Up

1.)   Step 1: Run/Open ComfyUI and update to the latest version by clicking “Manager” in the top right, then “Update All” in the middle of the pop-up window. Wait for ComfyUI to restart and refresh your browser.

2.)   Step 2: Download the workflow below and drag and drop it into ComfyUI – you should be seeing a lot of red.

3.)   Step 3: Once again, return to the “Manager” and select “Install Missing Custom Nodes” – the second option down in the middle column. Once again, restart ComfyUI and refresh your browser.

4.)   Download all necessary models from the links below or use your own!

5.)   Upload your image and run! You shouldn’t get any errors, but if you do please leave a comment and we’ll help you out!

Adjustable Fields

Before adjusting anything I highly recommend reviewing the tutorial attached to the top of this post (as soon as it’s up), as it walks through exactly how the workflow works step by step. Understanding the flow of the workflow is imperative to understanding where changes are warranted.

All fields with adjustable variables are colored red in the workflow.

On a high level, generally you can adjust the following fields:

Base Generation KSampler: Adjust the base K-sampler (specifically denoise and generation settings) for different levels of detail or differentiation from the original face. Denoise values closer to 1 will lead to results that do not look like your original face at all, where as lower denoise values will closer match the source image. Generally, values between .1-.3 work best. Setting denoise to 1 is a good way to generate some new faces for simple random “face swapping”. If your character has a dynamic pose where the entire face is not visible, you may encounter some funky results, but it’s fun to mess with.

Layer Mask(s): If you’re looking to adjust only specific features like the face without hair for example, feel free to adjust the two Layer Mask nodes for your desired effect. Generally, your layer mask selections must match.

Perlin and Voronoi Noise: These nodes generate the skin patterns like pores and additional intricate details that are then blended with your image. Adjusting these nodes will yield different results in terms of pore and/or detail distribution. The nodes are already set to their minimum size to ensure the most granular detail possible.

Limitations

The biggest limitation of this workflow is that it’s not necessarily going to be your one stop shop for skin fixing consistent characters. For consistent characters, if you have a LORA, integrating them in the existing LORA stack could be good at maintaining facial integrity alongside lowering denoise and other adjustable variables.

Models and Files:

Stable Diffusion 1.5 Files – Initial Re-Generation

More Details LORA: I actually am still looking for this, but using the three below should work fine.

Epicrealism_naturalsin (realistic vision and other SD1.5 models will also work): https://civitai.com/models/25694?modelVersionId=143906

Epicrealism Helper LORA: https://civitai.com/models/110334/epicrealismhelper

SD1.5 Add Detail LORA: https://civitai.com/models/82098/add-more-details-detail-enhancer-tweaker-lora

Flux Files – Face Detailer

You will find Flux Models, Clips, and VAE in the following link below. Ensure you’re selecting base models that best support your hardware (fp16, fp8, GGUF’s). Clip and T5XXL clip can be sourced from any of the cited links in the document. You will find the Flux Fill VAE at the bottom of this document.
